after having tested iOS 5 now for a few months I do like it, but still, it's the same OS it's been(looks wise) since the iPhone came out. Anyway I tried the EVO spring last year and was really not impressed. Washed out colors, a lot of stuttering while navigating and so on.

I figure before the iPhone 5 comes out I might as well try out the latest and greatest droid phone, which seems to be the bionic 4g to be released on 9/8. The retail price is $587 so I figure I could sell my 32gb iPhone 4 for about $450 hopefully and only pay $140 for the bionic after its all said and done.

Watching a couple YouTube vids of the thing is very very smooth compared to other droid phones I have seen or used. The big thing though us th battery life, a couple of review sites were saying they were getting about 15hrs out of it which is great!

I figure if I don't like it I can sell it for $350-$400 afterward and then just pay the differenc for the iPhone 5.

I really don't want to leave iOS for droid but wtf is up with Verizon and windows 7 phones? Are they ever going to get more? I love the UI of it and would most likely switch to that it Verizon had a decent W7 phOne like AT&T or sprint.

Sorry for the rant, just checking if anyone else was interested in the bionic.

Nah, I won't be. I've used enough different variations of Android on my HD2 that I can safely say I do not like the platform (there was always some issue with it, no matter which rom I used). But, after using WP7.5 Mango I can say if I wasn't getting an iPhone 5, then I'd definitely be getting a Windows Phone.

I agree with you that Verizon should get more WP7 devices (one device is not acceptable). They are pushing their Android phones way too much. A little variation could help them get more customers.

Releases tomorrow, not gonna lie, this is a nice looking phone.

Wow, the Android UI is horrible. I've considered giving this phone a shot but after seeing that, I'm gonna pass. People keep complaining about the UI of iOS, but I rather have the simple icons than a mess load of widgets everywhere. They can throw in an Intel Sandy Bridge 12 cores into this phone and it'll still not perform as smooth.

The only good thing about this phone is the huge screen.

You know the widgets are optional right? You can just have a screen of icons like iOS if you want, or even a blank screen.

My Atrix runs smoother than my iPhone 4.

Anyway, if my past 2 droids have any indication about the LCD, you're not going to be impressed. Compared to the samsung galaxy s, or the iphone 4, most motorola phones' LCDs look like crap.

Exactly. Motorola LCDs are really not on par with Samsung's and Apple's. It really hurts my eyes when I look at my friends Xoom and the Driod X. I thought they have screen protectors on...

I like LTE though. Wonder what the battery life is like on the Bionic.

I understand LTE is fast but how much speed does one need to perform everyday common stuff on their smartphone?

I get good 3G speeds with my iPhone average 2.5 down 1.5-2 up.

Isn't LTE a battery hog?

No thanks.

I don't like malware infested market place, inconsistent user interface, regionalised firmware where choosing one language may force you to give up another needed language, approach for customisation where to have feature A you may have to flash another ROM to throw away feature B, poor hardware vendor support, second rated applications compared to IOS even from the same vendor, having to give up the tight integrations between phone, tablet and PC, choice of accessories, and so on.

Go try one for yourself at a Verizon store if you're in an LTE area. IMO it feels like being on my 10Mbps wifi connection at home. Even "fast" 3G feels sluggish to me, definitely not the case on 4G. LTE phones thus far have horrible battery life, need a few more days to tell if the Bionic is any better.

Tried the Droid Bionic today at Verizon. Have to say I'm extremely impressed! Now I can upgrade from my LG enV Touch and I'm debating if I should get the Droid Bionic or wait for the next iPhone. I also live in a 4G area and it was really fast! Hmm decisions, decisions, decisions...

Within a day or two of me posting this thread i started to see stuff on the Bionic i was not going to like and after watching some reviews I am not even going to try it out(even though the reviews are good for the most part)

1. Its a lot thicker than i thought it would be
2. I thought it was going to have 1 button on the bottom, not 4 or 5
3. After i saw the Samsung Galaxy II i wanted that instead, but it is not LTE and not on Verizon.

So after all that I am waiting for the Droid Prime on Verizon which is supposed to come out in October, it is a Samsung Galaxy II that has been upgraded from the one all the other carriers have now, thats why verizon did not want it.

Its either that one or the Samsung Note.

The iphone is great, but if it does not have a 4.3" i think i may have to switch. Before i started using iphones(2008) i would have a new phone every 2 or 3 months it seemed, I am starting to miss that again, I think that may be the big benefit of going with Android, the fact that yes you can upgrade your phone to something "better" every month probably! Some of you may not like to do that, but me i would love to upgrade every 2 or 3 months :D

That droid Looks like my TI calculator from 1995!

Did he say GINGERBREAD!?!?!?!!?

guy at work just got one, it looks and feels like a big plastic piece of crap.

screen is not good at all especially when held next to my iP4
