I would like to wait, but I am not gong to, I have been waiting for about 8months for this computer. I am so excited to get it!

I'll be waiting 2 weeks, but only for pay day, but will be on the look out for any problems or glitches etc which may make me hold off a bit longer.

Ditto.

I've got to admit, I'm nervous. This MBP will be my first Mac and all I hear is "ZOMG don't buy: rev A/1st gen issues!!1!" but the fact is that I need a new notebook and have looked around a lot and am pretty sure this new MBP will be for me. I suppose, depending on comparisons in price and specs versus the Nvidia GPU issue with the last revision, I might buy from the refurb store... maybe...

I'm weighing it all up. Just how ubiquitous do these first gen issues tend to be? Will this new MBP even count as a "first generation"? If the photos are real it looks like a redesign so is that the criteria for a new machine? Speed bumps = new revision; redesign = 1st gen new machine???

Ah, the newbieness of me

I'm buying the MBP tomorrow from the Apple online store, there is always returning and Apple Care to back you up.

I just opened the SR 2.6 17" hi res that I bought on blowout from smalldog at a great discount a week or so ago. I decided after seeing the new port configuration that I'd rather have the current one at the great price I paid than pay more to get fewer ports (no RHS ports either?), and then have to wait until companies like "Bookendz" get around to releasing a new docking station for my audio rig at home. Peripherals will be a while lagging behind this release, and it's not worth the wait for me - especially for what will likely be several hundred dollars more than I paid for mine (for a comparable machine). That, plus the inevitable heat issues that'll come from the 2.8 processors at the top of the line; no thanks.

I'll be interested when they make it to quad-core or whatever that barn-burner expected in late 09 / early 10 is going to be, but for now I'm happy with the current (not tomorrow's) product.

Incidentally, I opened the box on Saturday afternoon (no turning back - no more costless refund if open box), and my TiBook's hinge-video problems became intractable on Sunday morning; it's now officially out to pasture.

I love the way the timing of that worked out!
