I'm sure its fairly easy for apple.
Apple id, address, credit card, any one of those or even a mixture is sufficient.

I mean if I paid in cash (or different cards) I’m guessing they won’t be able to trace anything unless I voluntarily provide real information each return?

I don’t see their POS systems having that level of sophistication.

Of course if you buy online it’s easy to trace (except if you create new Id’s per purchase).

When do you ever hand over your apple ID to a sales clerk? Pay cash, don't give personal information... Seems doable.

Apple should be more flexible towards their customers, a valued customer is a returning customer. We're the ones keeping the lights shining in their fancy glass towers, they need to be mindful of that.

When I gave them my credit card in store during purchase of an iPad , all my info showed up!
[doublepost=1532270631][/doublepost]I think when you use your device logging on your App Store, info of serial number and your ID are logged. So even you pay cash, they will eventually know. Big brother is watching!

Maybe the policy has changed, but I returned 2 late 2016 15" rMBPs because of uneven screens with no problem whatsoever. The Apple staff has always been very accommodating as in "we want you to be happy with the product". There is someone on another thread who claims to have returned 4 2018 models trying to get a Samsung screen instead of LG.

You're actually fine - you have 14 days to initiate the return, but after you do that you have another 14 days to actually get the laptop to Apple. So in effect it's a 28-day return policy.

Are you sure? I read in the T&C that the machine must be returned within 14 days. I guess how that is defined is up for grabs.
