I’m guessing Apple Silicon devices will be on a 2+ year upgrade cycle. Users obviously hang onto their Macs longer than iPhones, and these new machines are so blazing fast they won’t need regular updates.

I think $2000 is a small price to pay for increased productivity and creativity. Pocket change, in the grand scheme of things.
I was a bit disappointed that the M1 Pro/Max do not appear to be based on the latest core technology found in the A15, and I'm wondering whether this was due to time constraints on the first generation release, or whether we are likely to see a cycle where the Pro/Max SoCs are always a year behind the iPhone & iPad?

Might we see an M1X Pro/Max as a silent upgrade that includes the A15 tech?

Would we see an M2 Pro/Max next October, or just skip to an M3 Pro/Max in 2023?

What are your estimates for the release cadence of these SoCs?

Why do you think that? The A15 has a higher single core Geekbench because of the higher clockspeed compared to the A14, 3.2GHZ which is the same as the M1.
