I'm on O2 and I very rarely lose or have poor signal, and I travel around the country quite a bit. Even managed good signal hiking through the Pennines some weeks back - so my experience tells me different.
To OP - Call O2 > say you want to leave > take the ££'s off your monthly bill they offer you to stay > go buy the phone outright from an Apple store on release day (or order online). Job done.
It will be still chespernon three contract.
Paying £500 upfront on pay ad you go then getting a sim with O2 is much more expensive.
I had the carphonewarehouse 02 sim last year which I got a huge cash back which my line rental came too less then £5 a month.
I got the iPhone 4 on pay as you go from apple.
But my sim was not compatible I was told I have to upgrade to the iPhone tariff.
The sim did work on my iPhone 2g-unlimited data-I have heard others use the same sim on their 3G/3GS.
But know one has had success with the iPhone 4-I tried numerous methods even cut out my normal sim,got an O2 micro sim-but O2 could not transfer data as it was not compatible.
So I just had to keep the sim with another nooks 6230 old phone and get another pay as you go sim (three) I decided to get as they were the cheapest and also they then annoyed unlimited data after a few months which was quite awesome.
Iv been on three pay as you go since the iPhone 4 came out.
It's quite expensive on pay as you go.
£15/month: I get 300 mins,5000 text,unlimited data. + £499 iPhone 4 from apple.
It would be cheaper if I paid £35/month on contract £99 upfront.even though it's a 24 month contract. After 12 months i pay (£35x12=480) on contract cost which I would rather pay as I would get the minutes and Internet data.
This is the reason I'm getting a contract on three.
I'm really pissed off with O2 and carphonewarehouse for them they would not offer me my old offer cash back deal.
I rather give my money for someone that would offer be greater value for money.
Initially I did have to all up three and screw at them for any initial mis-Haps but they sorted me out.
02 can't sort out crap.
O2 have had times when their network was down the whole day what did they do for their customers??? Jack.
Just hoping three get iPhone 5 on launch otherwise I won't be a happy customer and would be drilling three down their line
----------
The new contracts for iPhones from O2 are horrendous. Nowhere near as good as the contracts from 2010.
I think once the new phone/phones are announced, i will be making my informed decision about whether i will upgrade with O2 or move to another provider.
All dependant on costs and initial subsidised purchase price.
Yes bumped.
They keep putting line rentals up-
£35/month used to get you 600 mins when the iPhone 2 started and iPhone 3G maybe 3GS after iPhone 4 for £35 /month only get small 300 mins-so lame
