dang that is impressive. i'm currently at 50% with over 9hrs usage and 3 days standby. i'm surprised they waited this long to add usage stats to the iPad, considering its one of the areas the ipad really excels!

exastly, some mixed reports though ...

my iPad 3, 32GB LTE-Verizon models seems to drop 1% every hour on standby even with all apps closed. is this normal?

my iPad 2 would last the entire day at work on standby with all apps closed and only drop to 99%

I used my ipad yesterday and the day before with only one charge putting it to charge at 2 am after I drained the battery completely.

It depends what you mean by 'usage' - reading iBooks with the brightness down and WiFi off won't use much battery so I would expect well over what Apple estimate. Playing Max Payne on full brightness will drain it like there's no tomorrow.

The percentage meter is only a "best guess" - the iPad has no idea how much juice is actually in the battery.
The bottom line is, most people charge it every day so as long as it easily lasts a day (and it does) who cares? Yes you can drive in a high gear, accelerate really slowly and sit behind a big truck to minimise wind resistance in order to save fuel, or you could just enjoy your car! Each to their own.

i'm just not getting these kinds of numbers. with my iPad 3, 32GB, LTE-Verizon on standby with all apps closed it decreases 1% every hour. to put it into perspective, my iPad 2 would decrease 1% on standby with all apps closed after a full day at work (~9hrs)

any insight? is the LTE chip draining the battery despite me being in a 5-bar full signal area?

err guys, my ipad 3 64gb+cellular does not show "Time since last full charge" and those under it. Any idea what to do?

I charged my ipad 3 last night at around 10pm with 20%+ percentage and I forgot to unplug it. I woke up at 6 in the morning and I got a 100%. After playing zenonia and painting with brushes for not more than 45 minutes, my battery went down to 94% O.O Any idea what happened?

Does apple support auto off charging when the device is fully charged?

I am extremely happy with battery life. In my picture, half of my usage was graphically intense gaming and lots of video streaming. If I played games on my iPhone, the battery would drain literally a percent every minute.

This is pretty weird, 20 hours usage and still some battery to use, it's nearly unbelievable... If I have 10 hours of usage and my iPad doesn't die, I'd pretty happy. I'm watching tv series (no stream), web, fb, playing games, just avarage usage imo.
What are you doing with your iPad that it has such a great battery life ? Is there any special secret option, setting or anything like that what would incresae battery life as you have ?

This is normal for me, even before iOS6 I could tell I would get similiar battery life. This is after a full charge about 10 days ago .. I charge usualyl 1-2 times a month generally, this thing is awesome. I constantly get about this much usage out of it, emails/web surfing/maybe 30-60 minutes of video playback.

This is with LTE on, lots of WiFi usage though.

I'm extremely happy with my battery life.

I didn't realize the iPad now tracked usage time. I went to check and wow.

I'd like to know too - since ios6 mine won't last a full day and given how long it takes to charge, I'd like to be able to just charge it overnight.

Mine's wifi only and I have bluetooth off except for my 20 minute drive home when I've been using siri over BT with my task reminder app.

I get this sort of battery life by using my iPad as a giant iPod touch. Most of the day at work I am listening to music on it. Since the screen is off, the battery lasts forever.
