I just want my CTU ring tone from 24 back along with the new text sound that every other phone on the planet has as it's default that isn't even an option on the iPhone, what's with that?

In my view musical ringtones are for the very young. I find them irritating and difficult to hear when there is any appreciable ambient noise.

Give me a normal phone ringing sound any day. Even then, phones should be set to silent/vibrate in numerous situations, both social and business.

I feel older just reading this and yet I agree with pretty much everything you've said. ;)

By the way why the heck didn't Apple include the ringtone in these videos in their list. Its decent sounding and not annoying. Just the way a mobile phone should ring. Instead we have "duck" and "space" nonsense

Exactly, looks like I'm not alone. All I want is a better selection of "normal" ringtones. I don't want Justin Timberlake singing from my pocket when I get a call.

As for vibrate, I'm with those of you that mention it as I have it in that mode 90% of the time. There are times when I do need a ringer, and all this marimba robot crap is annoying. "Sonar" is the closest I can find to a non fischer-price ringtone, and that still pisses me off.

I totally agree with you guys, the weird musical ringtones provided to us tend to get a bit annoying, especially when I forget to put mine on vibrate in the office. I have mine on vibrate most of the time anyways.

I'd say the only reason the iTunes/Ringtone debacle exists is that Apple bowed to pressure from AT&T and the big record labels on iTunes.

Give me a normal phone-ringing sound ay day. Just about everything else is spectacularly annoying.

i'm nearly 40 and i have kelis as my ringtone. maybe i'm not ageing gracefully:D

then again i'm not in offices or business meetings (although if i were in meetings i'd turn my phone off).

I don't care for them

I'm tired of using work arounds for custom ringtones only to have them get wiped out after an update. I am willing to pay for the iTunes feature, but I find musical ringtones (parts of songs) annoying. Has anyone found anything within the iTunes music store that has interesting cell phone sounds?

It's funny you bring that up, there was a thread about how some people did not like bluetooth so it did not matter that the iphone bt support sucked, but those same people were going ape **** about their ringtones not working.:D
