Like some here, I really dont find the need to have that much space with my lifestyle. Sure I could fill a 64gb easily, but I really wouldn't use most of it. I dont really rewatch most of my movies, and Netflix holds me over quite well for the times that I just want to kill some time. Music wise I prefer pandora. I get bored with music quite quickly, and I don't steal music and am to cheap to pay for It as it won't get listened to that often.

So that leaves 16gb for apps, books, whatever else. I really can't wait for Icloud though.

Good lord

That would make me claustrophobic! ;)

Yep, hence the 64GB one coming :) Normally it's about 20GB in music and only a gig or two of video, but I had to cull the music for video as there will be 4 of us down at the launch this week, and the kids will probably want to use the iPads for a while, so I needed plenty on the iPhones to keep me happy.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

I've always bought the largest size and have been dieing to get my hands on a 64gb iPhone for years.

Not anymore. I have a bunch of apps I don't use, I play only one game at a time, I stream movies from my 1TB and growing library at home using AirVideo, and I have already been using iSub to stream music from my library at home since my library is 120gb deep. iCloud is ideal for me.

I ordered a 16gb.

With the app store getting a purchased tab, it will be very easy to redownload a game.
With Photostream my photos are one step closer to their final destination anyways.
With a single swipe I can delete songs and make room for more if needed.
With wifi-sync the rest is covered while I sleep.

I ordered a 16GB, my first 'real' iPhone, I just didn't see it worth the extra £90 (on contract) for 16GB that I probably won't need. I'm a bit pedantic, so the 1080p files will get deleted if they're rubbish, or synced quite frequently into iMovie on my 1TB external. Unlimited data means I'll be leaning on iCloud a fair bit, but I'm hoping I can keep it separate from my mum's whilst still sharing the Apps etc.

It's not really cluttered, but mine has:

1949 songs (10.9GB)
109 Apps (4.9GB)
177 books (1GB, mostly read on iPad, but shared on the phone for the hell of it)
47 Videos (13GB)

Not much room left :) I use my phone for music in the car, movies and tv shows (stocked with extras for the iPhone 4S launch on Friday), plus often audio books and more. It's an item that often shares many items with the iPad 2 so I can watch/listen or read on whatever item is handy at the time.

Seems like my same hard drive space breakdown. However the key is the video (13gb) you don't really need. Unless you know you are traveling and not home to access those video, you could get away with 16gb but 32gb should be plenty.

64gb is overkill in my opinion. But it's up to the individual user.

I think most of us who own iPads these days put almost all our videos on it especially for traveling so video on iPhone becomes less of an issue.

Spotify takes care of most of my previously used space. And I don't watch movies on my phone. So I stepped down from 32gb ip4 to 16gb ip4s.

My husband has a 16 GB 3GS and he's not super into technology and his phone as been maxed out for a long time. I think pics and the kids games added to the stuff he uses just added up too quickly. I ordered him a 32 GB this time. My 32GB is about 60% full, so I'm sticking with 32 for me too.

I have a 32GB 3GS. I swore I'd get a 64GB iPhone whenever it was released, so I could store all of my music.

But, I ended up ordering a 32GB 4S. The reality is I have 73GB of music (and growing) - so no matter what, I can't store all of the music on the phone. And the ability to delete songs on the phone and download from the cloud should be enough.

What would be great is if Siri can initiate a download if it's not on the phone. What usually happens is I'm driving around, and really want to hear one particular song that's sitting at home.

I'd love to say "Play Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict" and have it download and play. :p

Let's see...

Better 3D capabilities means more 3D games... and 3D games are much bigger apps.

Photos are going from 5MP to 8MP and I have kids... so I shoot a lot of pics.

Video is going from 720p to 1080p and for the same reason above, I shoot a lot of video. I shot a ton of video when I took em to Disneyland in March.

Check out 1 of my Disney Videos on Youtube (HD)...

I went UP to 64GB for the 4S.

Since the iPhone 3GS, Apple is the only one that can get away selling a 32GB of storage space for $299 with contract and cab make people pay $100 for 16GB more when a microSD of that same space cost under $15 off Amazon.

32GB is my personal sweet spot. I only have about 1,500 songs, 400 videos, and 80 apps. I am not one of those with large libraries and needs to keep everything. But I need a bare minimum of over 20GB of space and 16GB really is accessible to 14GB in reality.

But I also shudder to think of paying $299 again and again for 32GB while still having to deal with another two-year contract. And when I bought it last year, it was closer to $400 since taxes were based off the retail price. This is the biggest problem in the longer run when you buy a phone WITHOUT an expandable memory slot. In another year, I can imagine the next iPhone will have 32GB finally priced at $199 and the 64GB at $299. If you plan to use iCloud and have other devices like say an iPad to store everything, I can see why downgrading shouldn't be a problem. People need to save money nowadays. Just remember that games and HD videos can take up the most space.

I expect the 16GB models to go on sale this Christmas temporarily again for $149 similar to what I saw last year.

I stream all my music and video but still went 32 because I think 8mp photos and 1080p video are going to take anlot if room.
