We travel to visit family about once a month, and none of them have wi-fi. So, if we want to use Netflix, then we have to use cellular data.

We've never used more than 9 gigs in a month, so I may have to think about giving up my unlimited data, but I'm going to wait and see what my usage does after I go from my 4s to a IP6. I keep wondering if the faster data will translate to more usage.

Finally gave it up. With the expansion of wifi our shared usage dropped under 1gb a month over the last year. We were just wasting money. It was hard to let go, but $40 a month cheaper made it much easier and finally we can tether.

I have had my iPad AT&T since 2010 when they first came out. Yesterday I switch my credit card. iPad is showing it doesn't have unlinited now. now I got to go to AT&T and convince them That I do have it grandfathered in. Anybody have any suggestions on how to handle? I know initial customer service is going to be clueless.

You shouldn't lose your plan by switching payment method.
Unless off course you didn't make a payment and messed up by defaulting your account.

My wife and I are on the grandfathered unlimited plan. Of course, ATT is jacking up the rate in February to $35. My daughter is on the 2MB plan. Most of the time she's on her schools wifi and doesn't go over the 2GB. But in the summer months, when she's home, she's gone over once or twice. I try to remind her about that. Anyway, looking at my wife's and I usage over the past year or so we don't even go over 2-3 GB combined. So with that said, I'm wondering if it would be worth it for us to switch to one of the value share plans. ATT's offer of waiving my contract termination fee is tempting. Any thoughts on this, or is someone else in a similar situation. Thanks in advance!

If this is the original unlimited iPad plan that you have, it is worth big bucks. Research Mcrumors for this subject and sell them.

MSV plan is almost the same amount, the only advantages are free inter. SMS and Mexican roaming. If I were you I either switch to another company or stay woth att. UDP is still is a great value plan, you can sell your lines 500-600 on the ebay. The only problem you cannot keep your number while you sell it. Think twice before you changeto MSV plans.

That is exactly why I gave mine up about a year ago. For some reason I could not get my iPad logged into my sister's WiFi one weekend, and then realized I couldn't tether my iPad to my phone to use my so-called unlimited data either, since as you say, could not tether.

Well I'm too old to be reading newspapers on a phone. Duh, so when I went home, I cancelled the unlimited, switched to a 2GB plan (now 4GB for same price) and save a lot of money every month. Could have bought another piece of gear for all the money I wasted on unlimited that I rarely used. Not being able to use it on a tether was the last straw for me. Oh well, happy camper now with my cheaper plan and ability to tether when needed.
