Only reason I would upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2 is to fix the password security flaw but I didn't want to reinstall all my jb apps again so I just got the tweak "disableEmergency" to prevent anyone from utilizing the flaw.

I'm not sure, but haven't an app to backup all jailbreak apps? Most of the users here don't upgrade to keep the jailbreak apps.

Btw, I'm running 4.2.1 untethered. Everything smooth, so far.

Just pay for PkgBackup and it'll do the work for you.

Does anyone know how much AT&T it going to charge for native hot spot?

The same $20 per month for tethering they charge now.
But you cannot keep the unlimited data and add tethering. You gotta downgrade to 2GB or 200MB plan and pay extra for tethering.
Instead of just bluetooth and USB you will also have the hotspot feature now.

I was in this group, but finally decided to move up to 4.2.1 and use Greenpois0n. There was no pressing need for me to upgrade, but no really good reason not to either. It's nice to have Airplay, printing, and Find My iPhone now. The only part that sucks is having to reload music onto the device.

Yeah, i'm still on 4.1 and don't plan on changing till 4.3. Some of the changes apple's made are either a) not worth the effort, or b) discouraging my move.

For example, you can't change your lock background easily anymore.... very discouraging.

So I think i'm going to stay on 4.1 and make a jump when 4.3 is out with a Jailbreak.

I feel the same way so 4.1 is for me. I can't understand why they messed with the lockscreen background and many other file names. Jerks! :)

I was in camp #1 yesterday morning, but decided to just go for it. It was like iTunes was taunting me with the message 'Your iphone software is out of date' every time I opened it. And plus I started to come across a few apps that wouldn't update because they required 4.2 (Photoshop Express for one).

I only had one real hitch... and that was the error 1013 caused by Tiny Umbrella and the automatically set hosts to Cydia thingy. But easily resolved. I now have everything from Cydia reinstalled (I opted to manually reinstall because PkgBackup took forever last time I tried it and only restored about 1/3 of my saved packages anyway)

I started a thread in this forum for apps that I have reinstalled from Cydia that work / don't work and what their issues were. Mostly everything is working with no issues at all though. The JB is stable as far as I can tell.

After the fact, I am glad I did it.
