How likely do you think the iPhone 8 will be a disappointment?

iPhone 6 series reveal was great, new design from iPhone 5…
That is one opinion, yes. I thought (and still think) the 6 series have been quite fugly.

I'm going to skip it because I prefer the refined "S" phones. You miss out on the excitement of the new design, but you get the kinks worked out.
I have that inverted as my preference. :D

But then again, we don't know if there will be an "S" series. Especially the way the iPhone has been predicted to take a turn for 2017 with three different models approaching, one being reportedly a major overhaul.

I don't expect the phone to be "disappointing" -- however I do not expect the phone to WOW me. Why?

Because few phones WOW me anymore. Phones have become commodities. All of the features and innovative designs on flagship devices are just icing on the cake.

As for eliminating bezels, I will admit that holding the Galaxy S8 in-hand was a treat. But it didn't blow my mind. That said, having already seen a phone with minimal bezels (the S8), the difference between the S8 and the next iPhone will seem marginal to me. For folks that rarely keep up with the industry and rarely go into stores to try phones outside of the iPhone (most of the industry is comprised of these people -- not saying that there is anything wrong with that), then I'm sure the iPhone 8 will be extraordinary to them. "Magical! Only Apple could do this!" ;)

I firmly believe if Apple puts the FPS on the back of the phone...that will be considered a 'failure'. It may still sell like hot cakes though if it is a redesign that is pleasing.

Now if they do away with the FPS altogether...it skirts that little problem, but I genuinely value the FPS and would hate to see it go.

I'm just waiting for OLED to come...the rumored size being close to 4.7" is good, but still not ideal for me.

I guess the OLED is what I look most forward to, but the LCD has been fine with my on all of my iPhones. I would like to keep my FPS on the front of the phone but will get used to what ever. All these choices have been made for us by now, we just need to wait to see what they will be.

Will Apple just go for the iPhone 8S next year? 2 iPhone S 2 years in a row

If you're implying I know the answer to this, I don't. I have no idea what they are going to do. But obviously this year it's been heavily rumored that the 4.7/5.5 LED models will have similarities to the iPhone 7 and the OLED model will be the overhaul.

I Truly think this is the year that Apple is throwing everyone off and the part leaks/manufacture leaks have been minimal at this point as well. (Aside from the Touch ID placement and renders. ) It makes it very difficult to have an idea of Apple's trajectory at this current point.

From what we know so far, I feel feature wise this iPhone will be fantastic - some fairly large improvements. As for design I really don't think it's going to look amazing, especially with the bulk of that rear camera module and the chassis as a whole. So long as it has small bezels and a size of around the regular iPhone 7 along with the features rumoured, I'll be happy.

I do think Apple will have one or two hidden features about this iPhone that we won't know until the keynote such as the Haptic feedback dubbed 'Taptic Engine' for the iPhone 7.

Having used the S7 Edge for a few months, the OLED screen is literally the only thing that I would hope for if I had a choice to make only one upgrade.

It will be underwhelming relative to the hyped. Given how close we are and all the leaks we have seen and heard, I think the biggest surprise would be a new wireless charging tech that alllowed long distance wireless charging (although unlikely).

That said, it will still sell like hot cakes and i will be upgrading. Gonna sell out within minutes upon preorder launch.

I don't think we'll be disappointed. I believe Apple has a vision of what they want the future iPhone to be and we are slowly moving in that direction depending on what technology allows for. Could we have had OLED earlier? Wireless charging? Fingerprint scanner under the screen? In all likelihood, these could have launched earlier, but there would have been trade offs. When you sell the most of one phone, those trade offs are compounded and can severely damage a companies reputation. Samsung is much better suited to take these chances as they don't sell as many of one phone and they aren't known for quality as Apple is. No one really seems to care if a Samsung feature fails. Apple will make appropriate advancements when the time comes and it's customers are not compromised. This year, we should see one of the biggest jumps that we have had. How could you be disappointed in that?

The phone will sell regardless, however, if you fall for the hype it's bound to lead to some disappointment, mostly because the features being implemented are already found on the Samsung, minus the removal of the headphone jack (way to go courage). With rumors already circling about the iPhone 9, I'm curious if this will be a one off "anniversary" edition or if they will continue the cycle with 3 devices on the rotation as apposed to 2.

Getting this feeling and just can't shift it.

Seems like Apple just hasn't been impressing me recently (e.g., with the latest MBPs).

Feels like Apple just holds on to cutting-edge tech so they can sell incremental updates.

Feels like Apple is just interested in making - as much - money as possible above all else.

Anyway, what do YOU think? Please vote in the poll!

Personally I decided to wait this upgrade out, wife and I are getting new iPhone 7 Plus's, she will get Red and I will get matte Black both in 128GB, 32 is a joke for 2 years, should be 64 then 128, then 256
