Anyone else think the iPhone 8 is going to be a disappointment?

How likely do you think the iPhone 8 will be a disappointment?

I don't think it's about being safe tbh - it's about keeping tech back and until it's the most profitable - and to support their incremental updates.

Some great points there!

One thing you have probably noticed though, is that your iPhone probably gets slower and slower every time you update the OS. I suspect this is a trick they use to get people to update their phones...

They do actually along with MacBooks and iMacs and iPads. Every time a new device come out the older device always start to have problems and people flood the tech support lines

In terms of performance apple is up to par and still slightly above its close competitor, samsung galaxy/note. Galaxy n Note ate good for consumers, they demand apple to update the iphones with marginal design so, apple can't ignore the presence n pressure n must keep the iphone more attractive. If not, apple will Loss market shares and technology advance. The S8 oled screen n beautiful design should not be ignored, apple must make a marginal improvement in both design and new features. The Note 8 will be another product that can hurt apple, unless ip8 can come on top against these 2 samsung's premier products

This phone is more praised and hyped than the second coming of jesus.

It's probably an updated 7 with new oled screen, not much else. Not much they really can do today with phones. If it had leaked with a really wierd camera setup or something there could be a bunch of AR/VR applications in store. Now I just think iOS will be the big improvement.

........just as there's more to a girl than a pretty face.

Hmmm.... there certainly is. The pretty face is just a trap. Once they get you, you quickly remember why being single was so nice. Lol.

Yes, there's a few good ones. But, unfortunately, finding the bad ones is easier. Maybe that's because they find you. :D:p

If you do not raise your expectations too high you will be impressed. After MANY new iPhone introductions, I have learned that each is a "step" towards being a better device and NOT a "giant leap," that most are expecting.

No matter how great the 8 is, it will be overshadowed by the next great thing.

I really think the iPhone could really benefit from a fresh new design. For 3 years now we had iPhones that look almost identical. I know the 8 is suppose to have edge to edge display, but (seems like) its still got the rounded edges and all that same old footprint. I'm really impressed with how good the Samsung S8 looks, it's refreshing after seeing the exact same thing from almost everyone year after year. I really hope iPhone8 can look as good as the S8.

Or, even just getting rid of the delicate lightning cable and replacing it with something durable. I'm tired of buying new cables all the time. I've never had any other cables jackets wear out so easily.

God the cable thing is so true... I have been using the iphone for 4 years now and I probably went through 6-8 cables. But my cable from my old Samsung S3 has still been working, I just put a micro-usb to lightning adapter on it and it's been serving me for, like what? 5 years now? I'm starting to wonder if Apple purposely make ****** cables so I keep having to buy them, it's really not that hard.

The 8 model with the vertical dual camera is one ugly design!! They can not be serious with that damn camera hump!

I'll be trying out the One+ 5 coming up and dumping the iPhone. Might regret it but Apple has nothing exciting going on.

I personally would rather them make the whole phone as thick as the hump and give me some insane battery life. Right now I use their ugly ass battery case that makes my phone look like a knocked-up teenager.

The main thing thats spoiling my excitement for the iPhone 8 are the rumours of such a high price point. Its actually turning me off buying it even though Im lucky enough to be able to afford it with no issues. How much am I personally prepared to spend on a smart phone, something that can easily get broken or stolen? I have personal limits on what I feel is worth it. I never buy expensive things just to show off to others as it just makes you look like a tw@t anyway.

Something else that may sway me against it is if they fail to integrate touch ID into the screen, and instead place it on the back. We all know that when they CAN integrate it, it will be under the screen on the 8S or 9. That would be another reason to hold off.

Ive always been a huge Apple fun and guilty many times of expensive impulse buys, but I think Im cooling off a little these days.

Yeah price is looking to be to high, no touchid integrated in screen. A somewhat new design. Not really worth upgrading.

If touchid isn't in the new power button, what is the longer design for?

Well, this being the 10th year and after 3 years of the ip6 design...people have their hopes up even more.

The frenzy will probably only intensify as Sept approaches. :D

I still am conservative when it comes to "leaps in technology"!

Just changing the screen size and form factor only wows me so much! I have used the S8 and while it is nice it is not revolutionary, just another "step" ahead.

I can not wait to get my iPhone 8 but know that after I get it and the excitement wanes, life still goes on.:D

I have seen every iPhone introduction and things get crazy here for sure.

Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed!!

This is Apples first venture into OLED
Embeded Touch ID, iris or facial recognition etc. So the likelyhood of refinement in the 2018 model is a great possibility
Will this iPhone be impressive..I think so but hard to tell at this point with all the various rumors

I firmly believe if Apple puts the FPS on the back of the phone...that will be considered a 'failure'. It may still sell like hot cakes though if it is a redesign that is pleasing.

Now if they do away with the FPS altogether...it skirts that little problem, but I genuinely value the FPS and would hate to see it go.

I'm just waiting for OLED to come...the rumored size being close to 4.7" is good, but still not ideal for me.

I sure hope it doesn't disappoint. Been waiting since the 6+ release. If it is the same phone with updated internals I will switch to another brand.

However, the leaks (whether true or not) have been consistent and well be having less bezel which is huge for me. If the top and bottom shrinks a bit too that would be nice.

iPhone 6 series reveal was great, new design from iPhone 5, Apple Pay, new Apple Watch

I'm going to skip it because I prefer the refined "S" phones. You miss out on the excitement of the new design, but you get the kinks worked out.

The ip6 reveal may have been great (to you), but the moment the news hit that it had 1gb of RAM, I lost all interest in the phone.

Wasn't untill the ip6s before I bought my first iPhone. Had the SE released at the same time as the 6s/+...I might very well have bought that instead.
