This is directed at people who own an iPhone XS Max...

I’ve had mine since it came out and I’m starting to feel it’s too big. There’s a lot of times when it’s great, but it’s too big for other times, such as using it in bed or fitting it comfortably in a pocket. I got the 6 Plus as soon as it came out and had every Plus size up to the 8 Plus, but this is the first time I’ve felt it’s just a little too big. Battery life also suffers.

Anyone else agree? The XR might be the perfect size, but at the find I really wanted 3D Touch.

Yes and 3D Touch doesn’t matter anymore as the same features will pretty much be available on iOS 13 for the XR.

I'm not sure.

On one hand, the screen size is perfect (and could even be bigger) for consuming content.

On the other, it's about half an inch too wide to comfortably hold. But I've adjusted and have gotten used to it.

Also, bigger screen = more manufacturing issues. I had to replace my first XS Max due to poor adhesive bonding, and I recommend checking yours for this issue as well.

That’s the thing- I have an 8 Plus, iPhone 6, SE, and family members have the XS and X. I wouldn’t want to go back to the old design (8 Plus) but I didn’t want the iPhone X in 2017 just because the keyboard is obviously smaller than the 8 Plus. That’s why I’m wondering about the XR size.

I think it’s a good size for me... had a 6, 6s, 7 Plus so ive been used to large devices. But today i used my 3Gs, 4, and 4s for fun and after a cpl hours when i went back to my Xs Max the thing was so huge
I mean seriously big lol. But the 3.5 inch is soo tiny. I don’t think I would want a bigger devices than the Xs max. Bigger screen in the same ratio body no problem but not a bigger phone.

I agree with OP. XS Max since release and have regretted the purchase nearly the whole time. Counting the days until Iphone 11 so I can go back to the smaller size. I love the concept of the XR (colored backs, awesome battery and $) but it it nearly the same size as the XS Max. I am happy that I signed up for the IUP because it is a no brained to switch this year.

I was going to get the max recently and I’m
Glad I didn’t. I’ve had big phones plenty of times. I had the 6 plus and 7 plus. I’ve had note phones and recently the oneplus 7 pro. I’m glad I went with the iPhone XS it’s the perfect size. The problem with a big phone is it’s great while using it, watching video, and stuff but then when it comes to calls and having the device in the pocket it’s just so annoying.

Love the size of the Max. I think I’d have a problem if it had bezels like the old Plus models but as it is, it fits perfectly in my pocket and provides enough screen to comfortably watch videos.

The XS Max is actually slightly ‘smaller’ then the Plus iPhones.
The XR feels like a brick after a while too, I have one, maybe if it’s not in a case it wouldn’t be so bad? But with the case I have it’s more or less the same size as the Max.
My favourite size was the 6S 4.7” model shape, still small but you have zoomed screen mode on it so you can read the text easily still, was a bigger to post comments with on here for instance though!

For me, my XS Max is only too big to use one-handed only if I don't have a case or the case is slippery. If you choose the right case with good tacky grip, it's entirely usable one-handed.

I got the XS Max after having the XS for like a week. I was thrilled and pumped to have the Max. After a few months I did wish I had a smaller phone. Later I eventually ended up buying the XR and I’m perfectly happy!

Really?

If anything to me the XS Max is great, it’s actually a bit compact in my eyes, it’s close to the perfect size for me, it could be a little bigger e.g. 6.7-6.8inch Display, if Apple engineers can reduce the notch and make the phone a little taller and a little wider.

I love how the XS Max is not too tall like most Androids, but actually has some width to it, makes reading articles more comfy and things look less cluttered.

A few of my colleagues have the normal XS, and that is far too small for me, the XR is also too small for my liking.

No, I currently own the XS Max and I find it to be the perfect size for me. I find the XS And XR rather too small.

No. That’s why it’s called the Max.
"Too big" is a completely relative term. What’s "too big" for some is perfect for others.
For me, X and XR are "too small". It’s all subjective and based on each persons usage case.
Size topics have been beaten to death. We’re into our 11th month and still getting new threads.

Perfect size for me. But then, I’m 6’8 with hands the size of trash can lids so I can one hand everything with it. The regular 5.8” is too narrow for my tastes.

Even the 5.8" phone is sort of a hassle when getting in your car and it's in your pocket - always gotta lift myself off the seat and pull down a bit on the legs of the pants to get some room, and no, I don't wear tight pants/jeans - normal.

It Comes down to one thing, your hand size. If you have smaller hands, it’s going to be more difficult to manipulate the Max, because it is a large phone no matter how you look at it. If somebody has larger your hands, then they’re likely to be more comfortable using it in different scenarios/one-handed usage, so that’s why everyone will have different opinions, because everyone has different hand sizes.

For me, I find the Max to be perfectly comfortable in the hands, however; carrying it in the pocket is an entirely different story that I find to be intrusive/annoying.

Yes and 3D Touch doesn’t matter anymore as the same features will pretty much be available on iOS 13 for the XR.

What does that have to do with the size of the device? Will 3D Touch stop working with iOS 13? Not to my knowledge so it will likely still be a relevant function on supported devices. That other devices get something similar doesn’t matter to me one bit.
