My comment stands. There's nothing particularly wrong with the size of the device. I have no strain using it whatsoever and plenty of people here share that experience.

Like I said, it's not unique to this device. Just because you don't feel it immediately doesn't mean it isn't harmful long-term. That's the nature of it, unfortunately.

There are things you can do to reduce it, though. Ultimately, frequent breaks and stretching are always a good thing.

I've been playing bass with my left hand for nearly 30 years. Very similar movements on a neck that's similar in width. I'm not too worried about using my phone.
 
Many of us are coming from the previous generation iphone so it'll take some time to adjust.
 
My hand hurt a bit yesterday as I adjusted to the 6, so I certainly wouldn't be surprised if other people had issues adjusting to the 6+. Today it's been a lot better, though. :)
 
I've seen a guy get tendonitis from using an iPhone 5. So don't try to use it one handed all the time guys.;)
