I had a crazy night a few weeks ago and ended up in a hotel with some chick. Let's say I can blame it on the alcohol. LOL. Anyway got a few tests done last week and get the results either today or tomorrow. It's been crazy reading different symptoms online. It can make you go nuts. Hopefully everything turns out ok and I most definatly learned from this experiance.

Anyone else here have a similiar story?

I've been tested numerous times. Not because of risky behavior on my part, but just because it's the smart thing to do if you're sexually active. Not a big deal at all.

Edit, oh yeah, and I donate platelets regularly, so I'm tested that way too.

I've donated blood as well, but I don't remember getting any STD or HIV tests in the mail (maybe it was because the blood was specifically for my wife who was having surgery at that exact moment). What tests are performed, and I wonder if this changes from location to location.

Nope. Never had sex, or skin contact with a women in who knows how long.

That's sad dude. Hope that changes for you in the near future.......

A friend of mine had an HIV test a few years ago. She said it was the most stressful time in her life. She tested negative thankfully.

It's almost August. May I ask why you have not been outside 5 times the entire summer?
I don't like talking about my problems (especially on the internet), but could be due to:
-Lack of hiring places
-My growing misanthropic attitude
-Negative viewpoint on the world
-Friends are in summer courses, the girl I like...ed...lets just say I'm epic fail.
-My own personal retardation
-Low funds

Doesn't the sunshine call your name? :) Hear it call!!!!

Sorry that you are going through such pain. Talking about problems on the internet isn't always a bad thing, you've already started.

I lived in Singapore for 8 years and a HiV test was mandatory for employment passes and employment pass renewals. Nothing to worry about, less you've done something stupid.

Never be too drunk to wrap it up.

I've donated in four states, and organized a few blood drives, all with the American Red Cross. I've always been told that they'll notify the donor if a test comes up positive.

If its only been a few weeks then getting a negative HIV reading may not actually mean you're negative. Generally you have to wait a few months after the 'contact' before it can actually start showing up in test results.

Don't be a floccinaucinihilipilificationist about the world. Go visit you friends at uni and have a party! Funds arn't needed for a good time! Or you can throw a party and invite all the MR people who live in the Atlanta area!

edit: To me, parties can be 4 people hanging out on a couch watching TV eating pizza and drinking Kool-Aid. I have a very broad definition of party I guess. :)

I don't understand why after MR people read my posts in the thread, that there imediate reaction would be: "He must be a SWELL person, LETS PART-TEH"

Speaking of which, I don't drink, so I tend to just stand around at house parties. Perhaps I'm anti-social much but idk.

My only thing is sleep, eat, go to college, get over it, repeat. I really don't know what to do other than that. (I'm hijacking this thread like hell)

Thanks for the information Ntombi. Does this mean they test for every known STD (including HIV)? This is perhaps a rhetorical question; if they didn't, recipients would be dying in great numbers.

They don't test for every STD. It took forever for them to test for HIV.
From the Red Cross web site:
* ABO/Rh determination
* Antibody detection
* Automated test for Syphilis
* Antibody to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (anti HIV 1/2)
* Antibody to Hepatitis B Core Antigen (anti-HBc)
* Antibody to Hepatitis C Virus (anti-HCV)
* Antibody to Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus (anti HTLV I/II)
* Nucleic Acid Test for HIV 1/2/HCV and West Nile Virus (WNV)
