It's not a Kindle but has many of the same benefits, I just bought a Nook on Friday and have messed around with it some. For me it may be one of the best gadgets I have ever bought. I was lucky that I received a few B&N giftcards for my birthday, so my out of pocket cost was very little. For a reading device, I think it is nearly perfect. It is about as light as a normal paperback and the e-ink screen is amazing. At first I thought e-ink was a gimmick, but the more I have used it, the more I have fell in love with it.

Would I like an iPad, sure eventually. The $499 price tag is a bit expensive for me, considering my Macbook does a lot of the same things the iPad does. I have played around with one in a store several times, but I can't see myself using it for reading for long periods of time.
