But you could have sold 6s+ to offset maybe half that or so?
Then the question becomes if spending an additional $400 is worth the marginal performance and battery life gains. The 6S+ is no slouch so holding it on for another year isn't bad at all.

For me, I'm on the fence between my 6S and 7. I'm leaning towards keeping the 7 because I love the color (matte black) and the haptics engine integration. I also got a great deal on it. Depending what offers I get for my 6S will probably be the deciding factor.

I hear ya!

I feel kinda guilty for throwing down, but not really, since I use this phone what feels like most of my waking moments,

and I'm a screen junkie, so DCI-P3 color range was an instant "OK" for me and improved optics, and a MB finish

True, I could have netted about $450 on swappa making the upgrade about $350. But 16GB doesn't sell like it used to, so it would have taken some time to get that money back

Even at $350 it still wasn't really worth it to me. Before I decided to send it back, I used my 6s+ for two days and didn't really miss anything. There are lots of things on the 7+ that are objectively better, but they're things that I can wait another year for.

I don't really know. It's not within their best interest to NOT have people upgrading as often as possible. I think we are used to yearly refreshes and skcthey had to give us something. Perhaps supply lines or designs for something more different weren't ready. Or perhaps this was the plan all along.

The Apple Watch is receiving some of the same criticisms. Although I get a series two, I didn't have a first gen to upgrade from.

I just hit me:

It almost seems like Apple had some sort of master plan. Given Samsungs problems, it's almost like Apple knew they didn't need to do any major upgrades to the iPhone to get new customers (I'm guessing Samsung folks might switch).

Heck, Apple could have probably just re-introduced the iPhone 6S with 3D touch etc and had a bump in sales given Samsungs problems.

Next year, I'm guessing Samsung will introduce a REALLY great phone to make up for all their problems and win back customers that might leave.

Apple will then have to do something to keep up, and from reading the rumors of iPhone 8, it seems like Apple has some big design changes coming up.

Who knows if what I'm saying has any truth to it, but it seems like a genius plan.

I'm obsessed with having the newest iPhone every year so I'm sticking with my 7+. That said, I don't notice much of a performance difference between this and my previous 6+.

I went from a 6+ to a 7+ and the performance bump is quite dramatic. With that said, I probably could have still lived with the 6+ if I was not obsessed with having latest. However, if I had a 6s+ right now, I think it would be best to hold off until next year. One year upgrade cycle is just too expensive right now, but I suspect in the future it will be the norm.
I'm actually in the same boat. I have a 6+ but suffering through "Touch Disease"... I'm going to make a case for a replacement when I go to the Apple store tonight to pick up my 7+ I just ordered. I just want to sell it.

Props for being honest with yourself and us.

If I kept my 6+ next to my 6s+ would the touch disease spread from one to the other? :(

Why do you think Apple made it hard for some iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus users like myself to upgrade?

I would like to upgrade from my 6S.

I wish Apple had done some more changes.

To save the changes for the major redesign next year, is my guess.
