i have space gray sport and I am considering upgrading to the stainless steel model and wanted to see if anyone went through the same thing and if you're happy with the outcome. Or anyone go from stainless steel to the sport as well? Discuss.

I have been debating on this very thing since I purchased the Space Gray Sport when I really wanted the Space Black SS. I was hesitant spending so much on a first gen product but after using it for a couple of days I've decided to return it today for the Space Black SS. Will probably sell the link band as I don't really want it to offset the cost, just really want SS with Sapphire in black.

I think its more of a personal preference. I can't think of anything worse than a scratched bezel of a stainless steel watch and before anyone goes on to say that the SS doesn't show scratches easily is clearly lying.

But when you scratch the SS model you can fix it in seconds, whereas the sport model... you can't.

I preordered a SGS on April 10, got it in May, owned it for a week, and then decided to swap it for a SS with a link bracelet. I'm very happy with the SS. It's durable and it looks classy. The dark matte finish of the SGS just didn't excite me. I was also worried about screen scratches. I've knocked my SS against various objects and the sapphire still looks brand new. Now I find myself badly wanting a link bracelet. Maybe for Christmas.

I purchased the Sport due to cost and 1st gen product, however I really wanted the SS, but since launch I’ve read that the screen on the sport is better due to the SS (sapphire) not being as clear in normal lighting
I’ve looked at serval articles and they all confirm the sports screen is visibly better. They claim the SS screen is more reflective and therefore blocks light
For sure the SS screen is stronger and scratch resistant etc, but can anyone confirm or compare the 2 different screens in day-day use

In bright sun, the Sport is more easily readable. Aside from that, you wouldn't notice or be bothered by a difference.

I did. Best thing I've done. SS is immaculate. SG scratched within weeks....despite babying it.
Now I don't even care if I bang the watch of something as I polish the SS every week with a Cape Cod cloth. Sapphire is immaculate too.

I thought it through before getting my SS model. The sports aluminum looks cheap and the material is cheap plus prone to scratches. The SS model has better material to protect from scratches and dings. Looks way better and truly can be worn for any occasion.

Be careful on third party bands. I have read horror stories about the bands not staying in snug and the watch falling right off the wrist.

I love my space grey sport, I have the :apple: blue leather, stock, and this new leather one. I don't think it would look as good in ss, maybe I'll try it in the next gen

I see the difference too, but it doesn't change my preference for the sapphire display over the Ion-x glass. I have never had glare significant enough to impede reading the screen. Since I'm just glancing, not reading web pages, I'm not nearly as sensitive to glare on the watch as I would be on a phone. And the more glossy appearance of the sapphire just makes it look higher quality overall. The durability is definitely a plus - I've whacked my display against doorknobs and such, yet it still looks absolutely brand-new.

I did...and I love it! I loved the SGS, but I love that I can "dress down" or "dress up" the SS. It looks more like a watch and less like a gadget...and I like that. (Not to mention the sapphire glass so I don't worry about scratches at ALL. And I've accidentally banged the thing on some stuff!)
