I have Exchange working great on 4 iphones, one 3G and three 1.0 versions.
The only issue I have is that SENT emails (from iphone only) appear on the Exchange Server (and local PC) as a garbled mess. There is no subject and the body is filled with characters.
On the IPhone SENT folder (Exchange) they look correct.
I am on SBS 2003 SP2

Can I ask a really dumb, noobie question?
Does one need MobileMe or the AT&T business plan to get Outlook to work on their iPhone?
The only problem I have with exchange access is the subfolders don't synch or push.
I have a bunch of folders underneath the inbox with rules based routing to sort things as they come in. These folders don't get pushed...I have to manually synch them up. A real PITA since I have a seperate folder for my boss's emails...
I am thinking of making the switch from my blackberry, and was wondering about the following:
The blackberry allows me to delete email on the handheld only leaving them in my inbox in outlook. Does the iPhone have a setting for that? I only like to see a days worth of mail on my mobile devices, and leave them in outlook.
Second, how does the sync work? Am I understanding correctly that if I make a change to my calendar or contacts on outlook that it will autimatically push to the iphone? Does it work the other way too - iphone change is updated on the outlook?
thanks.
It's a true sync (hence the name ActiveSync). Any changes on one device (yes, calendar and contacts as well as mail) are automatically replicated on the other. In terms of only viewing one day at a time, there is a configurable setting within the iPhone 2.0 software to specify the time period to sync - 1 day is one of the options. You will only see the emails on your iPhone from the past 24 hours.
It is very seamless and to Microsoft's credit, works very well.
Where and how do you install the necessary certificates? I think thats the problem I'm having. The account verifies, but doesn't authenticate the certificate. When it goes to the next stage it says something about syncing to null.
I'd be so grateful if someone could help me on this. We're a small company with limited IT knowledge! Need all the help I can get!

For our exchange server we have a trusted root certificate that we usually install on the win mobile phones. I did not install it on either of the 2 iPhones and the both are authenticated and syncing properly with the exchange server. What version of exchange are you running? I am currently running Exchange 2007 SP1
I just got the iPhone 3G. I have mobile me and want to sync my PC at work (where all my contacts and calendar are) with the mobile me cloud, and hence my iphone and my Mac at home.
I installed iTunes 7.7 on my PC at work (I have Windows XP, outlook 2003, SP3), configured the mobile me control panel to sync contacts and calendar with outlook, and when sync'ing it says it's going through the contacts and calendar. Funny thing though, no contacts or calendar appts ever show up on mobile me (when looking on the web app) or on my mac or iphone.
- Does this have something to do with the fact that my calendar in outlook is 'connected' to an exchange server? (someone suggested the data is not where mobile me "wants" it to be)
- Why doesn't mobile me see the calendar appts or contacts? My Treo downloaded all that info from the calendar and contacts whenever syncing via a cable...
- If the exchange server is the issue, I can see why the institutional contacts and calendar might not show up, but what about my personal contacts in outlook? They don't get seen either when mobile me 'syncs'.
And oddly, mobile me looks like it's going through everything (it takes several minutes and says it's syncing but apparently it's not "seeing" things.).
Help!
Exchange 2003 SP2 i believe.
That may be part of the problem, however, I can't say for sure. I know that iPhone's can use the auto discover feature of 2007 SP1 for ease of set up.
I cannot switch from my BB to iPhone until the Exchange support provides for the following:
1. Ability to Search and/or Filter Emails
2. Ability to Invite attendees to Calendar appointments that i create
3. Copy & Paste added to OS
These are pretty much showstoppers for corporate BB users. Its amazing that the beta users did not indicate these issues/limitations are critical usability features that need to be incorporated before the iPhone can effectively be used in a corporate environment.
(Fair disclosure: I used to work for Microsoft. And I have an Exchange Server at home. Adding ActiveSync to the iPhone is definitely the best thing Apple could have done with the new software.)
If I had the ability to get Exchange ActiveSync working by remote control, I could make a small fortune.i havent managed to get it to workand its making me very sad
My account verifies. It says that it can not authenticate the certificate, but even if i go back into the account, disable SSL, it doesnt sync. What am I doing wrong?
Does anyone want to come to my office and fix this for me? Please![]()
