I just checked the Fedex site again and, wonder of wonders, the general is "on Fedex vehicle for delivery". I called Fedex to get an approximate time, and the lady tells me that the general will be delivered when the driver gets to it, no later than Wednesday. WTF!!! There is nothing anyone can do, including Apple

General MacArthur arrived at the at the local Fedex facility, 5 miles from my house, at 7:21 this morning. I called Fedex and asked if the general will be delivered today or if I can pick him up myself. Was told that "he's in a container with hundreds of other packages, and the container will not be opened until the scheduled delivery date, Wednesday". What kind of BS is that!!!? I'm calling Apple as soon as I'm done meeting my new boss for breakfast.

Left Anchorage -- arrived nowhere ?

Can any other West Coasters report where your MBP shows up on tracking sites after leaving Anchorage, and in how long?

Mine left Anchorage 7:32PM Mar 1st. It's now roughly 34 hours later, and tracking details have not been updated any further.

Is my MBP being transported by dogsled from AK? Has it been intercepted by the Others? Is it sitting in some unscanned container in Memphis?

EDIT: At 7:06 this morning it shows having arrived at the local FedEx facility. Now I know there is no way it traveled nonstop from Anchorage to my local FedEx facility, so I'm guessing that it must have missed being scanned at some intermediate location.

Due for Wednesday delivery, but here's hoping it makes it out tomorrow.

Free expedited . . .

Well, they weren't handing out memory upgrades or free remotes, but at least they waived my expedited delivery charge for my delivery date that slid a few days. Hopefully it will ship ASAP. If it slides again I will push for getting the remote thrown in. Since all the other shipments are going so smoothly, I can only assume the Spanish (Western) keyboard option was the snag (anyone else choose that option?)

Congrats to all of you who are getting them in hand -- hopefully I am not far behind!

shipped today, says thursday delivery but it hasn't fully updated yet and I'm guessing wed i'll see it.

so I just got off the phone with FedEx.... After seeing this morning that I will be driving by the FedEx facility on my way to work I figured hey let's see if I can pick it up. The FedEx rep told me that the shipper has requested the package not be delivered until Wed so even though it could be delivered today they will be holding it until Wed for delivery. Only if Apple calls and upgrades the shipping will they let me pick it up. What crap, its miles away and I can't go get it! I am going to call Apple in a few hours and see what they can do for me

Is apple delaying shipments on purpose? Maybe to increase excitement?

When I bought my 5G Ipod it was the same. It was sitting in the sorting station just next to my house. When I called, asking why it would not be delivered, the guy told me because of Apples est. shipping date. Fortunately he had been able to change it.

So why is apple not just advising Fedex, Dhl, etc. to ship asap?

WHAT!!!?
After a bunch of runaround right as I am leaving for work I see that...
guess I'll hangout for another 45 minutes. There is some hope.

Unfortunately for you and me, haulage companies are businesses. They are in it to make money and do everything that's right for them and, as long as they deliver their goods by the delivery date, they are happy.

What does the FedEx man get out of delivering a package to one of us a day early? Nothing. In fact, it's extra work for them to seek out and find it, yet they do not get paid extra. That costs them.

Secondly, the reason that Apple probably puts "realistic" dates down rather than the soonest possible is again down to business, as some of us in this thread have already shown. Apple could say it will be delivered today, but then, if it couldn't be met, we'd be phoning up angry, asking for all kinds of free memory upgrades, shipping fee waivers, etc. Whereas if they say delivery on Wednesday, they are more likely to be able to keep the promise, deliver on the expected day and therefore on time.

Not flaming, just telling it like it is. :)

O MAN O MAN O MAN DELIVERED!!!! and here i am sitting in class...crap pharmacy school

So I have a silly question. When does Apple get paid? On Delivery?
The reason I ask is because I had the amount on my CC being held but not taken. Now it's listed as available balance...free MacBook PRO?! =P

Mine hasnt even seen the assembly line, i called apple here in the Netherlands and they told me that due to the "huge" amount of orders they were recieving the BTO's are taking longer. All she could do is make my order priority level "1" whatever that may mean.

Mine is finally saying Shipped on the order status...yayyyy!!!:D

Although on the fedex tracking site, all it says is:

Mar 3, 2008 1:32 AM

Package data transmitted to FedEx

What does that mean? It doesn't tell me anything about where it is

Well this sucks. Mine is out for delivery right now but I'm not there to sign for it. The estimated delivery on my tracking page is by Wednesday, so I was planning on staying home from work that day to sign. Why can't they just give the exact date it will be delivered (or at least update it if it changes)

Yeah mine just arrived, two days early! Woot!

Am I then only person who reinstalls OS X as soon as I get it? I just can't get past the need for a totally blank slate feeling.

Over 24 hours later and mine still hasn't moved. :(

Mine too is out for delivery 2 days early. I am psyched. And unlike some other's experiences, I have never seen FedEx put it on the truck "out for delivery" and not deliver it because the published deliver by date was off.

And as I was typing this the FedEx guy just buzzed. Yippee!

You can pre-sign and have FedEx leave it in a safe spot (e.g. under your porch or with a neighbor you trust).

Nope. I do the same thing to get rid of the extra languages, and some of the crazy print drivers. Though I'll probably leave the latter this time as I have a 320 GB hard drive waiting to be installed!
