Did it harm your plastic at all? Did it really get rid of that edge? I would love to try it.

That reminds me... if I use it on the plastic can I give my iPhone a matte finish? That would be cool!

That's hard to say.

When I sanded down the bezel/plastic on my old 3G, I used 500 grit paper - it's all I had lying around. That paper gave the bezel a definite 'brushed metal' look and dulled the plastic quite a bit as well. On my new 3GS, the bezel is fine, so I had no need to try out the new 1500 grit paper on the plastic. But I did use it to buff out some light scuffs and scratches, and it's much less obvious than the 500 grit paper. Not really a 'brushed metal' look; more of a velvet appearance. I don't know, I think it looks pretty cool.

As for what it would do to the plastic - I have no idea. I would imagine it would give you the matte look you're after, but I'll let you find out for yourself. ;)

BTW, the stuff Radtech packages in their "Bezel Blaster" kit is made by Norton, part no. 03078, Softouch Sanding Sponge "Micro Fine" P1500-P1200 ... You can find it listed in a PDF catalog at nortonautomotive.com, but a quick Google didn't turn up any retail availability ...

Yes

I have the incase slider on my 3GS from the jump from my 3G so I really couldn't tell you. I just know I have no screen problems whatsoever. At the same time I'm not searching for them either.

I have good news all!

Tonight I returned my iPhone 3GS for a full 100% refund. Not only did they give me all of my money back, they also put my contract back to the way it was before I bought the 3GS. Everything is as if I never changed a thing.

Plus now with 2.2.1 installed on my 3G, it's like super fast and stable. I'm loving it!

The iPhone 3GS was fun for a little while, but I really couldn't stand the screen anymore. I'm glad to have my old buddy back.

I thought the reason you returned the 3GS is because it was taking over your life and you couldn't justify $100 a month on it unless you were using it all the time?

Spaz,

95% of your posts have something to do with micro cosmetic issues of your phone. Have you thought about seeking alternative help?

...has a flush metal bezel around the edge of the plastic?

Mine is sharp on the right side but the left side is smooth as can be. Please note that I am not talking about where the glass and the metal meet... I'm talking about where the metal and plastic back meet.

It's kind of annoying me because my iPhone 3G didn't have this problem. I just checked it out and it's smooth all the way around. I also have the white-to-yellow gradient effect going on as well.

Should I return it again? I'm determined to get one that's like my iPhone 3G was.
i have the same problem with my 3gs white 16gb iphone too!

Ouch. I use copy and paste so much now, I'd hate to have to go back to 2.X!! Well, copy/paste and A2DP. Oh, and MMS. Oh and video too ...

Don't you miss any of that stuff?

I'm on my 3rd 3GS white 16GB, first had a dead pixel, 2nd had a dead pixel.

this 3rd one is great.

As far as the bezel goes, all 3 of them were great in the way that you're asking.

My first one though, was a little sharp on top, on the right side where the bezel and glass meet.

Spaz - why are you not running 3.0 at least?

And may I ask how many 3GS's you swapped or returned so far?

Our 2 phones were pretty near spot on and I'm so relieved.

I had 3 iPhone 3GS's.

First one had a backlight failure (backlight wouldn't come on)
Second one had a misaligned bezel
Third one had misaligned bezel and yellow tint on the bottom of the screen

I'm satisfied with my iPhone 3G though.

I don't see how you can possibly be satisfied with the slow-as-molasses 3G after experiencing the 3GS firsthand, nor how you can go back to 2.X and lose the MMS, copy/paste, etc ... But as long as you're happy. ;)

You need a girlfriend. Badly.
Or you need to seek professional help.
This is not good news for me, so "all" doesn't apply here. Another kid returning his supposed Jesus phone because its not like his "buddy" 3G. Seriously. Its a phone. Get over yourself and find real people to call "buddy."

Also, does this mean you'll finally stop posting useless threads about your phone? It'd be a stretch to see if you'll stop posting altogether, so I'll start out slow.

I won't lie... you're kind of hurting my feelings a little bit. Why are you being so harsh? Did I make fun of you? I have a girlfriend by the way and she loves me the way I am.

@mavis: I do miss copy and paste, but I never had MMS to begin with (I'm on AT&T). I dig the added speed of 2.2.1. It's my personal preference. Also, I don't think the iPhone 3G is "slow as molasses"... I think 3.0 was not optimized for the iPhone 3G. I can't even get GPS to work under 3.0, but it works fine in 2.2.1 also. There's many advantages of 2.2.1, but I'll probably end up upgrading back to 3.x again when an update is out.

Wish I would have read this before I went to bed. Had a really hard time sleeping last night.

See? Now THAT made me laugh. Haha. Good one. At least you didn't tell me to get a girlfriend and professional counseling.

Okay I will ... ah never mind. :p

You're okay Mr. TheSpaz. Although earlier today I was wondering if you were going to explode a few posts back. Glad to see it all worked out for you and that you are happy with your decision.

Since you can't afford the iPhone fees, I figured counseling and a girlfriend are out of reach as well.

Thank you for that R. That was solid gold. I laughed hard. The local technician sitting next to me looked at me funny. I showed him this thread and the breakdown thread. He LOL'd hard at Spaz and his "WAHHHHHHHHH."

wow unspoken D....someone crap in your corn flakes this morning?

I had a muffin and a banana for breakfast and I carefully monitored them for feces. ;)

I *can* afford the iPhone fee (the iPhone 3G is the same price as the 3GS) and I have a girlfriend (a quite lovely one that puts up with all of my antics) and I no longer need counseling because I returned my iPhone 3GS... I feel better now.

And you should be able to give more attention to the girlfriend, since you returned the 3GS! A win-win.

Actually... she's away house-sitting for someone right now... I get to go see her on Friday though. I don't know why people feel the need to tell me I need a girlfriend and counseling. Aren't we all basically here to talk about the iPhone? Not about people's girlfriends or lack thereof.

Wrong. Most of here are here for rumors on Apple products. Not to hear you prather on about your iPhone and every single cosmetic flaw you imagine in your head. Unfortunatly this site has become your new microblogging site, your new Twitter if you will.
