If you are editing a lot of video and you have the extra cash, go for the MackBook Pro. The ability to add up to 8GB RAM will be huge for you. Firewire won't hurt, either.

i dont have "extra cash" and idk if i do ENOUGH video editing to justify buying a mbp
im more scared about the power of the 2.4..if it will hold up to what i throw at it

I wouldn't worry about that. I use a 2.4GHz iMac at home and a 2.8GHz Mac Pro at work and I can't tell the difference in speed 90% of the time.

Before my 13.3" MBA, I used to have a 15" HP notebook which I rarely used, more than often than not I would use my desktop which has a 19" screen, and going from that to the 13.3" screen i've had no problems. I bought the MBA over the MBP because I liked the smaller size of the MBA, I liked how it was more portable and not as bulky as the MBP.

Well, as I normally do, I set a very strict spend limit on a new purchase and then at the last minute up that to justify getting a better car/computer/phone/etc.

And so it was with the Mac. After seeing a few threads about how the MBP screen was better and how the graphics card would be nice (addicted to LOTRO DAMMIT!) I convinced myself that the extra £200 would be worth it. Funnily enough, the size of the screen didn't influence me!

And lo it came to pass that Nik did order the 2.4 MBP tonight and nearly did a sex wee with excitement............. uuntil he sees his credit card bill. ;)

for 3 years (this imac and the one before) i have used a 24in screen.
the 13in size is really irritating to me, and i havent gotten used to it yet.. ill just need to get used to it..
before, i had 2 or 3 windows open at one time (eg. webpage, video on the background and a word),. but with a 13in screen thats virtually impossible..

had ad 15.4inch laptop before my aluMB. after using my mates 13inch sony laptop he bought around the same time, I chose to never go bigger than 13inch for a laptop.
I actually would like a 12inch wide screen even, to 11.5 would be sweet.

btw, i do a lot of final cut pro work, and professional photograph touch ups. 13 is perfect for me.

For me the lack of firewire is a decider. Upgrading my lovely rev a blackbook to a 15" MBP imminently. It isn't really the screen size that sways me, if the current MB had firewire I would have it in a shot.

(unless i get weak and go 17", which is completely impractical)

I moved from a Dell Inspiron 6400 (15") to the new Macbook Unibody's.

I actually prefer the 13" screen, due to it being less heavier. One may argue that there isn't that much of a difference between weights from a 13" to 15"... each to their own. I'd rather carry a less heavier laptop with me due to carrying university books/work alongside a notebook.

Plus, I found that spaces was really helpful (especially when you have 'hot corners' enabled). Very, very, very, very useful option.

I moved from MBP to MB

the main problem i am facing every time is screen quality and viewing angle. which is horrible on MB compared to MBP

second one will be heat issues my MB will be more hotter than MBP

I went from a 17" Dell Inspiron to a 13" Alu Macbook and honestly I can not even tell a difference. In fact I now prefer the smaller size of my macbook.

I had a 15" laptop prior to switching to my 13" white MacBook, following a subsequent upgrade to the aluminum MacBook. It definitely has not been an issue for me. I wanted to switch to the 13" because the overall weight of the machine is significantly less. You can feel the difference in every pound between these machines. And since I have to carry it around everyday, this makes it much better for me. As for the screen itself: I think it provides adequate room to view most webpages without a large amount of scrolling. Not to mention the LED backlight looks beautiful!

The world needs more 24" laptops. :D

I think there is a balance between portability and screen size. As many. many people pointed out, there's nothing stopping you hooking a 13" Notebook to a 23, 24 or even 30" screen when at home/work.

If you are spend time on the move - 13" is probably a good compromise.

1280x800 15" monitor == waste of time.
It offers neither portability nor screen size.

Sadly this seems to cover a lot of PC laptops.

same here, and i haven't regretted it once.. the 17inch had a resolution of 1440x900.. and this 13inch screen is 1280x800 (i think) and it feels like i have a lot of room on this screen.. right now i have safari open on the left side with ichat on the right and itunes on my second "space" and i have more than enough room..
