iTunes 11.1.1 is still a "work in progress." After I did a clean install of 10.8.5, I ran Disk Permissions in Safe Mode, which gave me over 200 lines of faulty Disk Permissions. I ran Repair Disk Permissions in both Safe Mode and from the Recovery Disk to no avail; even after running Repair Disk, I still got over 200 lines of altered Disk Permissions. I hope that by the time Apple releases Mavericks, it will have figured out how to fix iTunes. The problem it seems to me is that Apple is trying to create a Swiss Army Knife with iTunes, which - pardon my English - just ain't workin' because it wants iTunes to be too many things to too many people.
