I run 1 Dell 2407 and 1 Dell 2408. I like them I am just trying to get readjusted to using 2 screens. Its been 1-2 years since I have had a dual monitor set up. I still love it while trying to get work done and being productive. I just find a "playing" times it can be frustrating.

Part of me wishes I just bought a 30" and 20" to run vertical. My main concern was how the GPU would cope with the 30" after a year or two.

Who knows
Dave

Just tried, today in fact, to use my old 2407 in portrait mode with my 3008 and it just felt awkward and unnatural. I wouldn't mind something smaller that doesn't seem to block out the sun so I may look into a 15" or even 10" if those are available.

That's the one thing I love about laptops though you can hook it up to the 23" ACD or whatever external monitor and you already got yourself a 2nd monitor from the laptop.. especially when the laptop is a 17" led screen. :)

But I'm still debating on selling my mac pro or not.. still listed on ebay for a good price.. I'm trying out the mbp only for my main machine until then just to see if it is good enough.. so far seems to be good enough for what I do.. but then sometimes the mac pro with hits 8 cores calls out to me, "use meee use meee, throw whatever you want at me!!"

Dell 2405FPW & ACD 23"

Hoping to get rid of the Dell ASAP. The color and brightness is horrendous. I did 4 (no joke) returns with Dell. Each worse than the next. I kept the one that had no backlighting issues (well, the least).

ACD is flawless. I want a 30" but I'm waiting for an update.

I'm a graphic designer. I feel the same way as others, when i'm down to 1 LCD things feel very claustrophobic. I keep wanting to drag windows to the next screen. Spaces doesn't cut it, although spaces is amazing with multiple LCDs.

Thanks, I think I'm going to opt for a 20" ACD as my 2nd monitor. I like using one display as the "main" and the 2nd monitor as just leaving windows open or running windows parallels or whatever is in the way.

Dual Samsung 245BW's. Hard to beat 24in and 1920x1200 resolution for $500. A PowerMac G5 and Windows XP Quad-Core box are connected to them through 2 KVMs, so I can go use 2 screens with either box or 1 for each.

23"s and 30"s on the Macs. Is it worth it? How much is ample screen real estate worth it to you? On the Windows side in the lab I work on some quad 22" / 24" setups as well as duals.

I've got the same setup on my mac pro... Dual samsung 245BW's... I love these monitors, they are unbeatable for $500 a piece. Just got my Mac Pro on wednesday, and so far I absolutely love it. I have yet to run anything on it that really hits the CPU's hard, so far I've just been installing software and browsing the web, chatting etc... But it's a great setup. I've got the eVGA 8800GT card coming in today, too.

I am actually ordering all my parts for the new Mac Pro I am about to get. I will have 4 - 22" Acer AL2216W. I should be getting the monitors in today and the mounts to mount them on the desk. I'm excited!

So I got my LCDs in and thought I would share my setup. I haven't cleaned it all up, but hopefully you get the picture. The mounts I am using are by Ergotron and cost around $100 a pop. Not bad and I think they are very good quality.

hehe!!

was using a single 23ACD but I replaced it with 2x NEC 20WGX2 ...
I gotta they are one of the best consumer level 20" S-IPS monitors

I didnt have time to get the 20" ACD, I wanted to see if I can use a 2nd crappy monitor and still be happy and so I pulled out my old emachines monitor to use for the night and make my decision! But I can say is that 2 monitors are very nice!! =D

CRTs seems to show that line breakage under camera.. but when I have my head turned to the left and the peripheral vision of my right eye catches the emachines screen blinking or some wavy lines and its quite annoying.

But wow all I can say is that no matter what settings I set this crt on.. it looks like utter crap compared to my 23" ACD.. I wish I kept my nec crt monitor from years back...

But one thing I do have to say about having 2 monitors is that the experience is muchh better!! I think I'm going to pick up the 20" ACD on monday.

Here is my delima, I have not purchased my Mac Pro yet. I still have a bit of research to do before buying. I got my LCDs because NewEgg had them for $230 each w/free shipping. I don't know if I should go with 2 - ATI video card or 2 - 8800GT? I don't play games. I don't want to say that money is no issue, cause it is, but I would rather have more "power" than not enough. I develop courseware. But as far as graphical stuff, I will be using VMWare/Parallels and I am getting into Photography and Video. I am leaning more towards the 8800. I have read some of the other threads about these two cards, but I get lost in it all.

The nvidia 8800gt has 2 dvi ports.. couldnt you use both monitors on 1 card?? Unless you need to run 2 monitors you can just buy another nvidia 8800gt with the ati 2600 or buy another hd 2600 (I believe its pro apps are faster than the 8800gt at the moment).

I have 4 LCDs that I will be using. I was thinking about getting two 8800gt, but don't know if that will be a waste of my money and just stick with two ATI.

I opted to go all-out and bought two 30" ACD's. I don't use both all the time, but it's a great setup for video and photo editing. It's also invaluable for writing presentations where I can have data, images and documents on one screen and Powerpoint running on the other. One other useful thing is running Windows XP running full screen on one monitor with OSX full-screen on the other.

I use three of the Dell 2407WFP 24" displays on my 8-core Mac Pro, which is great. I have an older Dell 20" that I want to put above and between my middle and right monitors, but I need to find a decent arm mount that will work

I have a question, though, for those running Leopard. I know in the 10.5.2 update, one thing that was added was the ability to turn off the translucency on the menu bar... but with 3 displays, I don't seem to have that option as seen in the screen shot below... I'm not complaining because I like the translucent look, but it seems like a bug of sorts to me...

I am running a 32" Sharp Aquos as my main display. That is flanked on both sides by 24"'s (1 Samsung & 1 Acer) then off to the side is a viewsonic 27" TV for watching slingplayer and other various widgets and such. Yes it's massive overkill for most but I usually have 2 or 3 VM's running and a couple of things in OS X so it works out great.

Trying to get the color the same on 4 totally different displays is a slow process though, and I doubt I will ever get them all tuned exactly the same.

The downside is that the ATI 2600 & Nvidia 8800GT don't always work together flawlessly and so far Apple always blames everything on my displays and has not given me any useful fixes for various issues. The big problem I had was that the 8800 wouldn't display 1080p but I fixed that using a 3rd party tool to force the resolution. The other problem is that I have to have the monitors on the 2600 turned off in order to boot. Otherwise the 2 displays from the 2600 turn on normally but the 2 connected to the 8800 show a bunch of weird block patterns and a spinning globe of death. So far I have not gotten anyone on the phone for applecare who can give me a solution for the boot problem. Anyone have any idea's? And yes I tried clearing the PRAM (every time I have called applecare)!!!!

Man I took the crt monitor out of my room... this thing gets extremely hot!! I'm thinking about getting the 20" ACD or another cheaper monitor... maybe a dell or a samsung..

Man, tell me about it. I have a 19 inch CRT, a 24 inch LCD, the Mac Pro with 4 hard drives, a 5.1 speaker system, and 3 lights in my tiny room. I swear, it will be 60 in the house and 85 in my room. It is unbearable. My overhead fan just runs nonstop.

Sounds similar to my setup lol, but my room is not small but I do have a 52" sony bravia, 5.1 hifi system, yamaha hd receiver, rotel poweramp, mac pro with 16gb ram,3tb drives, 1tb external drive,23" ACD, 17" penryn 2.5ghz mbp with 4gb ram, hitachi 7k200 drive and that hot ass crt monitor!!

Temperature in the room isnt so bad but that crt actually made it way worse.. its actually wayy hotter than the whole mac pro!!

I'm still trying to decide on a 20" ACD or just a cheap dell/lg as a 2nd monitor since 2nd monitor isnt much of a big deal... To anyone here have you got a cheaper 2nd monitor and regretted it?? Or you guys glad that your main monitor is bigger and better as to the 2nd monitor??
