Just picked up mine today, did they call you?

Got mine at Best Buy Friday night. They received them Thursday. They had (2) 2.4, and (12) 2.0. I bought one of the 2.4.

They were not even up on display, and had to be pulled from one of the overhead shelves.

Absolutely love the MacBook, and thinking of getting a 2.0 for my wife tomorrow as a surprise.

P.S. I'm in South Texas

Both the Best Buy's in my area had the new MB and MBP's by mid-week. (purchased mine from the Apple store though).

Here it's early next week, although I'm buying mine at the apple store =D

I called earlier, and they said they should be in next week or something, but I do not know if they really knew what they were talking about. I'll be in the area tomorrow so I'm gonna go and check it out.

As of yesterday, I know the Ann Arbor and Novi store in Michigan have the new ones. Ann Arbor is where I got my 2.4 glassbook.

As of today, the Toledo, Ohio store still doesn't have any.

Guys!!! I work at the computer department at my Best Buy is New York(Long Island). Steve Jobs announced the new MB's on the 14th Tuesday...and We got 8 Macbooks delivered to us on the 16th Thursday - 4-2.0's and 4-2.4's...I have already personally sold 2-2.0's. Were not aloud to put them on display because and apple rep is the only person that can do it. So we must wait for corporate. And thats the FACTS!!!!!!!

I was in Asheville, NC Best Buy Thursday night and they didn't have any on display, but the guy I spoke with said they had the 2.4 MB in back that they could sell. They didn't have any MBPs yet. He had just sold one of the 2.4 MBs and had 3 more in back. He was very knowledgable about Apple products. The first BestBuy I talked to when they first started selling them a little over a month ago was clueless. I want an Apple Store here! We are a relatively large town with a university and LOTS of Apple users around, an Apple Store would do quite well here!

Stopped by a local Best Buy in the Dallas area on Friday night, and sure enough they had the new MacBooks in stock and had even setup a display model. We ended up buying a MacBook Air though instead since they had just cut the price $400 on those starting Friday morning. My wife had been wanting one since they first came out in January anyway, but just couldn't justify it at the original $1,799 price.

BEST BUY: New MB = :)

I picked up my 2.4 MB Saturday 10/18/08. They were not on display but when I asked the Apple rep at the display area he said they had a few in the back room. The display table had the previous versions on display and he said they were trying to clear a few of those before displaying the "new stuff".

The old versions were marked down in price, don't remember the exact discount but for those interested you might want to check the BB web page.

anyone know if i could use this coupon to get the macbook?
http://cybernetnews.com/2008/04/10/reusable-10-off-best-buy-coupon/
scroll down to the red "update" link for a close up of the coupon. because if i can, Im def going to get the macbook at Bestbuy
It only applies to computer accessories, but actual computers-so no, it won't work. Now success can also depend on the person you present the coupon to-I once bought a Digital SLR with a Best Buy 12% coupon that the fine print said excluded Digital SLR cameras. The clerk checked it over, read the fine print, looked at the camera box, and then rang up the 12% off.

I doubt it will work, but you can give it a shot.

Also-when I picked up my 2.4 macbook from BB Friday afternoon, I found they are running an 18 month no interest promotion if you use your BB card-I definitely took advantage of it.

the best buy in cleveland has 24 month financing

got it

I live in Tacoma wa. We got the new MacBooks here. I am gonna be exchanging my white 2.4 for the new 2.4. Had the white 2.4 for 3 months buy I know someone who works there so the exchange is gonna work I'm gonna just pay extra 3 Hun for the 2.4 glassbook

what advantage do you have getting it at best buy as opposed to the apple store?

Financing for one thing. You can do 18 months no interest right now nation wide. [ though I'm sure depending on the store / location the offers will very ] and you always have the option to do 48months with 11.9% financing. [ lower minimum monthly payment ]

Also, if you have reward zone certificates [ the dollar ones; ie; $5, $10, etc. ] they can get put towards your laptop. [ hell if you buy with your reward zone card, you get $5 in certificates back for every $250 you spend. ]

And, if you like BBY's protection plans better than apple, that's also an option I guess. [ though they are pricier ] ~

what advantage do you have getting it at best buy as opposed to the apple store?
Sangmort pretty much covered the reasons why, but for me-and probably a lot of others-the closest Apple stores are at least 3 hours away. Now I could have waited a couple more days and ordered from an online retailer and saved paying state sales tax, but in this case I got too excited and had to have one NOW. I still had to drive two hours roundtrip to get it at my 'local' Best Buy, but I don't regret it one bit!

I went into Best Buy yesterday and the guys there said they have them in the back, but can't put them on display until the Apple rep comes in. He said he'd sell me one, but I couldn't look at it...which was what I went in to do in the first place.

Maybe my store is just the odd one out, but we don't have an apple rep & we put our own apples on display. [ not just macs...iPods, iPhone, etc. ]

Also, the store could've opened one up to show you, Glaxx, and just saved it for when the apple rep did come.~

Financing is also the reason my wife's parents got her new MacBook there. They got 24-months no interest financing, which is huge, especially when purchasing a "luxury" laptop like a MacBook.

I preordered mine and from Best Buy last Saturday. I don't now if the Washington DC area stores have them yet. However, the shipment status reads, "Status: 1 item(s) preordered, release date is 10/22/08." I'm hoping my order will come through before I find out it was in the stores all along!
