I left sprint on July 11th, I would be curious to see what the figures were for carriers losing customers that weekend. Anyway, they called a few days later trying to offer me a new phone, apparently unaware that I wasn't with them anymore. I told them I switched and they were calling my cell phone, so I had no desire to waste my minutes talking to them. If they had called about why I was canceling I couldve given them names and dates. In truth the 3G iPhone kept me with sprint a few months longer than I wanted to be there, due to its release date.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A345 Safari/525.20)

I left Sprint with 3 lines. Switched to AT&T with 2 iPhones. I miss Sprint's low monthly rates, but not the Treo. AT&T rates are expensive!

I left for the 3g, not looking forward to my ETF, but I sold my old sprint phone to pay for it.

I'm so much happier with the iPhone (had a touch)

Wow, I may be one of the oldest sprint ex-customer
I've been with sprint for 15 years.

New Contract: 2 years
New 16GB iPhone: $300
New plans: $75/mo (twice what I was paying for Sprint)

Having (a user friendly) internet in the palm of your hands: Priceless

:)
(of course this is IMO)

That's the only reason I left. Sprint has better data coverage and better plans. iphone would actually be better suited on Sprint's 3G network.

Quite true. If only Sprint didn't own Sprint's network. Their data speeds were so much better than AT&T's but after getting shafted pretty hard by Sprint, I wasn't exactly upset about ditching them.

I've been with Sprint for just about a year now and I'm currently testing out AT&T with the iphone 3G. So far I've been relatively unimpressed with the 3G coverage (it's very inconsistent in my area), but the iphone is really growing on me. I've always told myself I wouldn't switch carriers just for a phone but the iphone has me contemplating a change (I have another 2 weeks or so to cancel my Sprint contract without an ETF due to a material change to my agreement with them). I have to say that my Sprint coverage has been good and I've had EVDO coverage everywhere I've gone in the last year or so. I know AT&T is in the process of expanding their 3G coverage but I still don't think it will match Sprint's coverage. The other thing that has me concerned is 4G. It seems like Sprint is going to have it much sooner than AT&T and that makes me hesitant to leave Sprint too (not to mention my ridiculously cheap SERO plan with all of the extras).

Ideally, I'd like to "freeze" my Sprint account so that I can go back to them with the same plan in the future but I don't know if that's possible. I would assume that porting my number from Sprint to AT&T would automatically cancel my service with them altogether unless there's a way to just get a different number assigned to that account. If I could do that, I would suspend my Sprint service so that I don't have to pay (I would still be under contract for another year or so though) and then port my number to AT&T for now. Anyone have a clue if this is even feasible?

My experience with Sprint has been quite the opposite. The few instances I've had any type of billing issue, they were resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. The worst customer service experience I have ever had was with Cingular. It was so bad I vowed never to ever have Cingular service ever again, cancelled my contract and paid the ETF and switched over to Sprint. I left an awesome plan (500 min, unlimited everything ~ $20) and set aside my extreme dislike for Cingular because I think iphone is an incredibly good (despite seriousflaws) handset.

My 3rd 2yr Sprint contract expired on 7/5/08. I was planning on migrating to AT&T for the Free M2M with everyone i know. Jumped on a 8Gb 45mins before the store opened July 11th, was 9th in line. They ported my Sprint Number and I was wondering about my final bill. Since i recently paid my Bill, I'm guessing Sprints billing pays ahead. I got into my account to check it and I have no phones on my account. My bills and other stuff was wiped out on my Sprint Wireless account.
I'm assuming, since i can't get into billing, that I am paid up.

It was an easy process, no sweating it.
