I am not a fan of cases. Why have a beautifully designed phone and cover it with a case?

I am completely naked, no screen protector, no case, nothing.

I have Apple care and gadget insurance. I did this with the jet black plus too and it wasn’t a problem. Something always happens warranty wise so I tend to have a fresh device every 6 months, I upgrade annually and don’t care about trade in costs.

Gadget insurance?

Is AppleCare due up front or can it be done in installments? I buy retail every year generally (AppleCare has resale value but not enough in my opinion). Would hate to dump 200 dollars just to get rid of the phone in a year.

Naked for me. I want to feel the product in my hand, all those quality materials and curves. For transporting I slide it into a neoprene slipcase. This will be temporary until I can find a nice leather one with a flip lid and no openings.

Apple leather cases are well made and feel nice but I hate the lip it adds to the edges. It ruins the feel of swiping on the edge. Also, the open bottom is not great for full edge protection.

I bought a folio case but it's too awkward to hold and the magnet doesn't hold the flap closed. Not worth £100.

Piel frama make a nice leather slip case called the Unipur but don't seem to be making one for the X.

I may consider a skin just for back glass (with no edges) if it shows starts to show scratches and swirls.

Note - this will be the first phone I buy Apple care for just for the piece of mind due to the high repair costs on the X

Planned to keep the phone naked, but wimped out and put a case an screen protector on it. Just not enjoying the phone as much with them on and I have a feeling they will come off again tomorrow! I’ll enjoy it as it was designed to be. I’ve got AppleCare+ as a backup should I need it.

If anyone wants that naked feeling but still wants some protection--Here's super thin clear case for only the $4.97:

I'm extremely pleased with it! Has accurate cut outs and is thinner than the spigen cases, so it shows off the beauty of the iPhone X.

Edit: Just increased in price to $5.97!

i originally was gun-ho about going caseless this time around. i quickly had a change of heart once i got it. it's great, in hand it feels like a solid phone. i may have some honeymoon weekends without a case from time to time but the last time i did that, twice i dropped it and cracked the screen. not sure this time around how often that will be.

Yep, caseless here.

Have broken every single screen on every single phone I've owned, but never bothers me. Only bother fixing it if the digitizer stops working.

I thought the same. I mean, NEVER?

Right! But there's always a first time ..... and last time :D

Adds character ;)

It's more prevalent with the SE too, the size of the phone is it's main selling point, to make the phone any bigger makes it's main selling point moot...

I managed to own my 7 Plus from launch until the launch of the iPhone X, and never had a case on it. Not a single drop or scratch on it when I sold it Friday. It wasn’t that I babied the phone, but I was conscious of where I put it down. However, laying it down on a bar, counter, etc and never thought once about damaging it.

I have AppleCare+ on the X, and intend to do the same. With the Apple Watch and AirPods, I find that I take my phone out much less when walking as I used to, which negates the possibility of stumbling and sending it flying across the sidewalk.

Here’s hoping!

I want to go caseless soooooooooooooo bad as the phone feels and looks so good without one and I have only ever actually broken one phone before.........but oh man I really don't want to experience that dread of picking it up after a drop.

I actually dropped my iPhone 7 Plus twice over the last few months taking it out of my pocket and it landed face down but thanks to the case (Otterbox Symmetry) there was no damage. Thinking about it though I think I dropped it because the lip of the case caught on my pocket while I was taking it out which caused it to flip out of my hand, hmmmmmm

I'm in the same boat, want to go caseless and always have gone caseless. The phone is to nice to put in a case IMO but bought a midnight blue leather Apple case after reading all the posts (but highly doubtful it'll go in it). With AppleCare+ I feel like that pays for the case itself...am I wrong?

Phone feels so good without a case. I got a silicone case that looks like the Apple one but is has more grip.

I may get a back skin and just use that. Phone feels so good.

I've forever hated cases and advocated against them. THey're beautiful phones that don't need to be hindered by an ugly case. Unfortunately, I dropped mine on day one and got a small crack on the back corner. Hoping a case will prevent further damage until I fix the crack in a few months.

My understanding is that you can cancel applecare+ at any point and get a prorated refund. Also is it not transferable to a new phone? so if you get a new phone next year the 1 year remaining can be transferred to that phone?
