I really thought the 4S was the perfect form factor, and I was concerned that the iPhone 5 would just feel too long. But honestly when I started using it, I didn't notice any difference in the feel.

But this morning, when I came to my desk and saw my 4S sitting there, I started laughing. It suddenly looks ridiculous to me. I don't know how to explain it, the 4S just looks and feels so stubby and short to me. I definitely love the iPhone 5 form factor.

I wouldn't say it looks ridiculous. Does it seem small compared to the 5? Well it seems shorter obviously. But I think the 4S has a more solid look/feel. And it seems quality control was more on point with the 4/4S. Not saying the 4S is better than the 5, but I do really think that the build quality is better and with the ability to easily get scuffed, I think the 5 would bother me. I'm assuming since a lot of people are complaining about scratches, I think Apple will probably finish the phone a different way for the 5S, which is the next phone I'm able to upgrade to.

I was a bit concerned about this, since I always found the size of the iPhone 4 to be perfect. But after using the 5 for a day, I am completely happy with the new form factor. The one-handed "turn on with thumb, look something up, turn off with index finger" routine still works fine for me. I have to stretch a little to get to buttons at the very top of the screen with my thumb, but it's still manageable. The phone is also still very pocket friendly (and you barely notice it's there due to the lower weight).

I haven't tried many apps yet that take advantage of the bigger screen, but e.g. the inbuilt calender app benefits greatly.

Yeah same with me. Have no problem reaching anything with my thumb and the bigger screen defnitely helps out with alot of the apps. Fits fine in my pocket too. I think I just need to get used to the weight of the 5, it really is a noticeable difference!

Lol I know exactly what you mean. Looking at my 4S next to my 5 right now and it does look like a short fat phone in comparison.

Even though I haven't held an iPhone 5 for myself yet, based on what I've read/heard, I know exactly how OP feels.

The iPhone 5 is longer and weighs an ounce less than the 4/4s. The 4/4s is also made of glass which feels more premium than aluminum. And that's not to say the 5 isn't built well because it definitely is aesthetically pleasing. IMO, I prefer the design of the 4/4s. Hopefully next year's iPhone will be even better.

3Gs

Except for the weight, I still prefer the 3Gs. The most comfortable phone ever. Plus the finishes are very durable.

Sold my 4s, bought the 5. Used the 5 for a week. Besides the form function being awkward, light and just some how lacking, I returned it. Went back to the 4s and really love it. Seriously the 5 is a waste, no real improvement in user experience, the cable is annoying, battery life poor and the wifi glitch is just frustrating. Not to mention Youtube glitch, Facebook glitch and other imperfections. Not sure if Scott Forstall purposely sabatoged the software or what! Looking forward to maybe the iPhone+, or another brand if iOs doesnt jump forward with sometime exciting.

Got the 5 yesterday and while LTE speeds and improved overall speed of the 5 is great I find myself missing the form factor of the 4S.

Maybe the 5 feels too light for me or something I can't really put my finger on it but the 4S just feels so nice in my hand while the 5 leaves something to be desired.

Debating if I'm going to keep it right now maybe it'll just take some getting used to after almost 2.5 years of using the 4/4S form factor.

Anyone else?

The iPhone 5 is only marginally different in dimensions & materials. It's still a flat rectangular slab. Based on this minor deviation, those who like this general style are quite likely to accept either model as very nice.

I really wish they just scaled the 4S larger rather than longer. I "like" my iPhone 5 but I definitely dont "love" it.

You seriously get worse battery life on the 5 than the 4s? That's very hard to believe. The 4s has the worst battery life of all iPhones. Mainly due to having a more powerful processor than the 4 but with the same sized battery. Battery life on the 5 is on par with the 4, which is one of the best batteries on the market.

I loved the design of the 4S when I had it. I think it was the best built phone I've ever owned. I do wish the 5 had the design of the 4S but the size of the 5. When I hold the 5 it feels fake. I like my phone to let me know I'm holding it. All too often when I leave the house and I get to the bottom floor of my building I have to check to make sure I grabbed my phone cause it's so light. The 5 is a great phone. It's fast, great looking, has a great camera, but too fragile.
