I had the Blackberry Curve a few phones back, wasn't really a fan. Keyboard was too small, the lack of "true" internet, at the time there was no video playback. camera was nice though.

I will be moving to sprint shortly. Relative can get me on their employee plan and I can't pass up the fact that it will save me $70 a month vs the iPhone plan.

I was curious about the Tour (and Pre). Pretty disappointed in the Pre build quality I've been reading all over the internet.

Just an FYI, I switched from the iPhone (original and 3G) to the Pre and absolutely love it. I loved the iPhone but was ready for something new and the Pre picked up right where the iPhone left off IMO.

Remember, the web is for people who have problems with their products to complain/find help, which is why most of the things you've read about build quality are bad. Most people don't post or start blogs/threads saying 'my phone worked just as I expected.'

Pulled the trigger and bought a Tour online last night. 27% employee discount takes the bill down to $51/month. We'll see if I like it - if not, I have 30 days to get a complete refund.

This is no offense to you, but the PRE is the cheapest piece of junk I have ever had seen/held. It is just really cheap. Not to mention it's a slider - really - in 2009? I think people are just looking for "greener pastures". However, there are none right now. The iPhone is IT.

None taken. I do prefer the build quality of the iPhone but I don't think it is a cheap piece of junk. At first I was skeptical of the slider but I do like how it keeps the small form factor when closed, and fits nicely in my hand. As I said in my previous post, I enjoyed the iPhone and I do feel as if the Pre is right up there in terms of enjoyment and efficiency.

You can't generalize like that. I was 'generally happy' with my iPhone 3G, but I wanted a change and went to a BB 8900, and I've been very pleased with the switch.

The iPhone and BB each have their own strengths and weaknesses, and for some people, the BB may be a better choice. I love the way the BB can do true multitasking and backgrounding, which is very useful for me because I like running IM on my phone. And to top it off, I can do it on the BB without completely killing the battery.

I agree with your second paragraph, but I don't think it disproves what I said before.

If you're generally happy with the iphone, it's probably because you enjoy its OS, web experience, app selection, and multi-media capabilities. BB is going to provide a much worse experience in those areas (except arguably OS).

If what you're saying is you could like them each for different reasons then Ok. But I still think that someone who generally likes the iphone is going to miss a lot of its strengths moving to bb.

If the OP said the iphone just didn't do what he wanted, I'd say sure, try a bb. But if it's more "I like the iphone but am bored," I'd try webOS or android first.

Anyway, moot point since the OP has gone with a tour. Sounds like you got a good discount, so good luck with the new phone. :)

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm glad to hear that, as I love my iPhone dearly but the deal I can get is just too good to skip! Hopefully in a year or two it will get off at&t and on to the different carriers and I'll get back on it.

just got back from att and played with a bb bold for a little bit and I liked it! Just dont know if I'll make the jump from my iphone 3GS. I was thinking of returning my 3GS and buying a bb bold on craigslist... I gotta think about this.
