...or do you just leave it at “name’s phone”?

Habit I got from work, to name my devices in a theme.
IPhone X is going to be ‘Lysithea’, which is the 10th moon of Jupiter. It will join Callisto and Titan on our network.

I put a name that I typically have used for various devices in the past. I don't think I've even really had it appear as "Name's iPhone"--I've seen it just generically say "iPhone" for the most part when I haven't changed it or when it changes on its own (which seems to happen once in a while, perhaps after some update).

How do you even name your phone? Does it change the name of your personal hotspot?

miPhone

i've used that since 2008 or so :)

I plan to name my iPhone X “Steve” as a tribute to the legend himself.

I typically name all of my iOS devices like this: <my> iPhone <generation> <capacity in GB>

So my 6S is PowerBook-G5's iPhone 6S 64GB. It helps with managing them in iCloud.

I use my name as a theme for all devices. For example if my name is Daniel, my iMac is DaniMac, then DaniPhone, DaniPad etc.

I also have an old 5S as a just in case phone that’s called LillaPhone, as in little.

Mine is named "Bens Galaxy S5" even though it's an iPhone and my name isn't Ben.

Just one of those things to throw people off the path I guess?
