Annnndddddd... Three for three...

Just did an update on the Mac Pro after piloting Leopard on a MacBook and a Mac Mini. Archive and Install.

Only glitch is with Lightwave (version 7.5) - which I am not using right now (going to upgrade in the new year to 9.3 with Intel support).

Set up Time Machine backup onto a dedicated 1T drive. Works so far, but I'll still clone the system off to an external drive too. Another copy never hurt.

Leopard after upgrade

Did an "Upgrade" install this morning and all is going GREAT! It looked a little scary at first (no big issues) with slow application launches and inability to see my previous mail folders. At permissions repair and a few reboots it began to tighten up. Did a software update that claimed to be fixing apps I am not using. I don't know if that corrected any of the rough edges. After a couple of hours (and several reboots) everything smoothed out.
Runs as well as my factory Tiger install. I had none of the major issues reported in the forum.

Late 2006 20" IMac. 2.16 Core 2 Duo with 2 gigs of Ram, 256 Vid Ram. NAS external backup.

3rd party software all running well
Popcorn2
Handbrake
Neo Office
Google Earth
Skype
Maxtor Solutions 11 B/U software
Firefox.
Flip to Mac
Had to dump Tinkertools

Installed Leopard on my MacBook Pro 2.4 Saturday morning via the Upgrade option and it went smoothly. I then installed the newest Logitech drivers, and my MX Revolution works normally, actually a bit better.

The two problems I've had so far are:
* Parallels 3 gives an error when loading WinXP; but it still runs fine.
* Drivers for Canon Pixma MP600 crash. I can scan, but then the software crashes. Haven't tried printing yet. Canon says they're working on it.

There may be other lurking issues, but I've not explored the new features yet. In general, it runs well.

Archive install. OK for the most part - my 3G iPod seems to make the finder stall... i.e. the time doesn't get updated and I get the beachball in the top right, until I pull out the iPod. Strange

I have problems with inkscape and gimp. neither opens up and it appears there is something up with x11.

Hoping that fixes will come up soon.

I'm having no problems with the OS itself, but I am having trouble with a few PowerPC apps, and FotoMagico.

It could be an issue with the iPod. Try it on another computer.

i have to ask becuase the seemingly blatant bugs on this release makes it seem like it is not ready for prime time despite being released late.

anyone?

No problems, installed in less than one hour, just a bit slower at startup but
still miles faster than microsoft. Leopard seems to be the Neo.
