I am. I know there are some on here who have stated they might actually prefer the design of the 5C, regardless of weaker specs.

I'm keeping an open mind and will wait until the event to decide.

Depends what you are upgrading from. If I had a 5, which I do, I doubt I would think twice about the 5C. If I had a 4/4S then I could see people considering it a cheaper upgrade path.

Is the 5C going to be a substantial upgrade from the 4S? From a specifications perspective it can't be too close to the 5S, but then if it's on a par with a 5, why won't people just buy a 5?

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple raised the prices of the 5S (maybe starting at $699?) since they will be introducing the 5C.
What will the storage breakdown be for the 5S - 16GB - 128GB? What about the 5C?

Nope - I need a flagship device.....

errr....

I WANT a flagship device :p

What I am on the fence about is whether or not I'll try to pick up a 5C AS WELL. If the price is right, I'll likely grab one at some point to serve as the backup for myself and my wife in the instances where one of our phones is lost, broken or I'm selling in advance of a release.

Interested to see what all they have to announce on Tuesday! My popcorn will be ready.

Because, off contract, the 5C will likely be cheaper.

If the 5 is kept around, it would be at the base, un-susbsidized price of $550.

Almost all estimates on the 5C price have it AT LEAST $100 cheaper than that.

I think there will be some surprises or things that differentiate the devices. Perhaps the 5S jumps further ahead as far as SoC goes and the 5C gets a better chip than we think.....who knows?

Won't find out until Tuesday.

Yeah it's strange that the price is so close to the 5. If they wanted to target emerging markets, you would have thought they would have gone total budget, selling the 5C for $199. Will the 5 still be for sale when the 5C & 5S are released?

No one really knows of the price of the 5C. No one !

No this will not happen. The 5C will be priced lower for the third world markets and those that want a less expensive phone. Top of the line will remain the same as the 5 in my opinion to keep the price in check and not alienate the loyal customers. 5C will have some of the same spec's as the current iphone 5, but with a plastic body. No one knows for sure what the memory storage will be like, but rumors suggest 128 GB for the 5S. 5C will not get the 128 GB and may just offer both the 16 GB and 32 GB only. This to is a guess. Wait until this Tuesday. Only 4 days to go. ;)

From what I understand, of course all rumors, is that the 5C will be a 5 with plastic housing. Whether upgrading your 4/4s to a 5, or a 5c makes more sense will all depend on what price the 5C is released at. But I agree, if the 5C is priced high then it would be worth it to get the 5, but then it all depends on how much you value aluminum over plastic.

Surprised to see so many with a negative opinion of the 5C already. We should all just wait to see what it will really be like.

I find these questions kind of silly, it's hard to make a decision without specs being released. I imagine the 5S will have everything the 5C has and more. If that "and more" is something that I find important to me, I will go with the 5S.

If anything the 5S is going to be far superior and the 5C is probably going to have the basic features we see in the iPhones now, but be cheaper. I will most likely go with a 32GB 5S (hopefully that's the base model).

Well that is exactly what I was saying. Nothing silly about it. My original question was asking about the people who are currently undecided and could go either way (5S or 5C) depending on what Apple actually announces.

Well if that's the case then nobody is locked in on what they are or are not getting based on we know little about the 5S and 5C for sure, just speculation about a few new hardware items and maybe color.

I really don't think the 5C is ugly or cheap looking, then again I haven't seen it in person, and none of us have, so it's pointless to speculate at this point.

I might keep my 4S until the 6, but if I were to upgrade, I would get the 5S just because of the superior internals. I put cases on my iPhones, so getting a 5C wouldn't really look that different inside a case. If I were to get 5C, I would only be interested in white or black.

The only thing that deters me from the 5C is the fact that it's a first time product (as far as some of the hardware), so the casing might have defects, or something about it might go wrong in the first generation of it's existence...that, and the fact that it's just an iPhone 5 with a different backing.

Again, 5S for me, for it's internals and for the fact that it would be the best most powerful iPhone currently out. No point for me to upgrade to a iPhone 5 with a plastic back (5C).

No fence sitting here: it's 5S only. Why bother with a budget iPhone?

Because they sell in massive numbers. Do some research and you'll see just how many iPhone 4's and 4S's are still sold. Even though $200 isn't a lot of money over the course of a two year contract and lot of consumers like walking out of the store with a $0 phone because it was "free". If Apple only sold the new model and discontinued their old models with the cheapest iPhone being $199 Apples sales would drop like a rock. That's not even taking into consideration those who pay retail.

If your talking about why anyone would want to buy a cheaper phone; not everyone needs nor wants the latest and great. For someone who doesn't need the advanced functions or the higher speed of the latest CPU they don't get the value from the money spent for the latest phone. If last years model does what they need it to do at a lower price, in their eyes it would be a waste to spend the extra cash. Then their are parents who buy phones for their kids. Again they likely won't want to spend top dollar for a phone for a teenager.
