I am paying $400 for the 3GS White 16GB...

Traded laptop and iTouch for 16gb white - cost me $200.. got the laptop for free

got replacement iPhone and sold it for $390..

I got my 3G last July. Rather than paying $399 for another 16GB iPhone, I plan to wait until the next-generation model equipped with a multi-core ARM chip (A9) comes out next year. :)

I set an ugly precedent by buying the first two on launch day so yea this one will be as well. I paid 599 -> 199 -> 499. But I got smart though! I got my girlfriend to agree to switch over to AT&T next year when her Verizon contract is up in May. So now one of us will be upgrade eligible every year!

i would pay 1000 dolllars for a 1tb iphone but i would never pay 399 and over for a 16/32gb iphone thats a rip off

Once AT&T/Apple sees that they can't move as many iPhone 3GS' at the ridic $399/$499 price point, they will open the $199/$299 price to all customers.

So I am waiting.

I don't get why I don't qualify as it is. I've bought the iPhone and iPhone 3G on launch day, have a 5 line Premier family plan, and have been with Cingular/AT&T since 2000, first phone was the Nokia 3360.

Why won't you be able to get it subsidized next year as well if you buy now? Didnt att move the date to include June, July, August buyers from last year, so wouldn't they do the same thing next year?

$499 for 32Gig. I'm one of the "lucky" customers who pay right under 99/mo, bought the 3g on launch day last year but have an upgrade eligibility of 12/12/09. I just recently changed my plan to be in line for the yearly iPhone upgrade from now on hehe. You're gonna pay one way or another for the upgrade, either throughout the year on your bill or all at once if your bill is under 99. :p

Do you guys not realize basically no one can pay over $299?!

Sold my 16gb 3g for $450

Bought new 32gb 3gS for $699.

So cost me $250,

Plus added ZERO months to my contract(Which cost 100+ a month)

Plus will have me 100% eligible for the next iPhone release...

I became an ATT&T customer last summer with the 16GB 3G iPhone. At the time I was on a Verizon contract and just couldn't wait to switch to iPhone. That contract just recently expired.

While on the Verizon contract I saved up my loose change (literally) to cover the cost of the 3G. That "iPhone Fund" was never actually spent on the 3G and is now the 32GB 3G S Fund. :D

But I'm not eligible for upgrade pricing until January and would rather wait for feedback from the user community about how awesome (or not) the 3G S is. Who knows; by January there may be convincing rumors about the next phone...

It's a vicious cycle...

so it is mentioned in apple store website as

(2) Requires new two-year AT&T wireless service contract, sold separately to qualified customers; credit check required; must be 18 or older. Existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G should check with AT&T or use www.apple.com/iphone/buy to find out if they are eligible for early upgrade pricing: $299 (8GB), $399 (16GB), or $499 (32GB) with a new two-year contract. For those who are not eligible for an early upgrade or who wish to buy iPhone as a gift, the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).

So the question is...is the phone pricing for gift (ie $599 16gb / $699 32gb) unlocked? Can I use any carrier with this phone?

wow some of you people are either really into tech or have a ton of disposable income.

paying 600 bucks for a phone...wow...

paying 400 bucks for this 3gs...maybe...if i didnt pay 200 for a phone that is pretty similar to it last year.....

3gs will be my first iphone...and i probably will be content with it for the 2 years and get the next one in 2011.

Paid $499 for the 3GS...

but my 3G is up to $280 on eBay with 6h left, so I guess that takes care of that, eh?

Yes and no..

Sold my iPhone 3G for $325. Bought my 3G S for $499.

$500 - $325 = $175

From my point of view I got a great deal. 32GB for less than a new customer can get a 16GB. I like ATT service where i'm at and don't mind the two yr contract. Plan to do the same thing next year for the NEXT iphone.

I'm selling my 16GB 3G for $400 tomorrow (assuming the unlock is released--the guy wants to use it on T-Mobile), and buying either the 16 or 32 GB 3G S this weekend. I'll be paying either $399 or $499, depending on whether my head or my heart prevails. :p

I didn't buy the 2G, but I bought the 3G a week after launch.

Well, my heart won.

I'm now the proud owner of a 32GB white iPhone 3G S.

I sold my 3G for $400, so I only forked out $160 including tax.
