I ordered and received mine just over two weeks ago, and the production date on the sticker, as well as derived from the serial number is middle of July.

I suppose it depends in which region you are located in and for how long the re-seller has had it in their warehouse, if not directly ordered through Dell.

So, how long did it take from placing the order to receiving the monitor? I ordered from the Dell website to Spain.

It took 2 or 3 days, I ordered from a re-seller in Germany, as they had a good price at the time when I decided to get the U4025QW, and they also stated that it was in stock at their warehouse.

Hey check this out, it can send DCC signals to the monitor to control audio volume among other things ;-)

Hoe it helps! ;-)
Does this app work for controlling brightness and volume on U4025QW out of the box?

Does anyone know if I can use DP for this display (for the faster refresh) and also the thunderbolt connection (for the hub/ports) at the same time?

Why not just one single Thunderbolt cable for everything?
It allows for the full 120Hz refresh rate and also transfers all the display included hub/ports connections, even the 2.5G Ethernet, at the same time.

That's how I have it set up with the display included Thunderbolt cable.

Thanks, i thought only TB5 could pass the higher refresh rate?

TB4 can handle 5k@120hz -
Just be sure to use a real 40Gbps TB4 cable, and if > 3ft in length it'll need to be an "active" cable

I've got an MBP M2 Pro connected with one of these Cable Matters TB4 cables running 5k@120hz no problem - and also got two other computers hooked up via DP & HDMI, along w/ a USB-C switch to swap over all my perhiperals

Thanks. I have a 1.8m Apple TB4 cable (cost a bomb!).

My only concern now is productivity-wise and understanding the various resolutions available to me. I work with a lot of spreadsheets and PDF drawings/schematics. I want real-estate and crisp text but it cant be so small it's unreadable. I use the 'More Space' option at the moment on my MBPs screen and on my 4k 27" monitor which are all fine. Is there a similar res. to this on an ultrawide, is it literally just 'wider'?

I just got the monitor a week ago, replacing a U3818 @ 3840x1600 and am trying out various resolutions as well. I tried the native MacOS resolutions, as well as some custom scaled HiDPI resolutions via BetterDisplay.

Currently using the native 5120x2160 resolution, but with increased system font size (settings->accessibility->display->text size) to 13pt - This gives me noticeable increase in screen real-estate for everything from spreadsheets to photo & video editing without eye strain

Keep in mind what works for me might not for you. It'll be subjective based on your eyes, your viewing distance, and media. It's worth reading through the BetterDisplay wiki on HiDPI to understand the way MacOS is trying to do scaling

I replaced my 2013 TrashPro with a Mac Studio M1 Max, which by default is only supporting 5k@60hz
However, using the method & values identified here I'm able to get 5k@110hz over displayport without issue

I've got all my perhiperals able to easily move between 3 different computers connected to the monitor by adding this USB-C switch to the monitor upstream usb-c port, and then downstreams to my DP & HDMI connected systems. Much better than my older displayport+USB switching setup!

Just in case anyone is wondering, I moved from an M1 Pro to M4 Air today and it has no problems driving this display at 120Hz. In addition, 3840x1620 scaled resolution is selectable. I assumed it would work anyway since people reported the same with the M4 Mac Mini but this is confirmation that it indeed does.

What are people thoughts/experiences using an UW like this with MacOS? In particular with spaces/desktops. Il often have 4 windows open across 2 desktops, 2 per space side by side. Ideally they would all be on the same which on an UW I could probably do? But is there native support for this? Cant see the option at the moment but presume its because im on a regular monitor.

I think 4 columns of apps (if that's what you're saying) would leave them too narrow. I do 3 columns on my primary desktop, comprising 5 apps. Mail over Messages on the left, Browser in the center, and Calendar over WhatsApp on the right. Then, I also have around 6-7 other desktops I switch to for various things (a couple work related, personal related, etc).

ETA: I use the 3840 x 1620 HiDPI resolution. I have the LG btw, not the Dell. But same physical size and resolution.

Thanks. Can you do this natively or do you manually resize or use a third party app?

I tried a couple of the automated ways to do this but reverted to doing it manually. The native stuff is pretty basic and inflexible. The app I tried (sorry don't recall the name) was more robust but in the end I just found myself fighting it.

My apps reopen with the same window placement and size at restart (and even quitting and re-opening the apps does this) so it's kind of a set and forget thing for me.

I use a similar layout, dividing the screen into 'fourths' and use the center 'half' for primary tasks and the L/R fourths for auxillary stuff like messages, music, etc

You can do this (and more) via hotkeys with Rectangle free version

The paid pro version of Rectangle also supports saving & setting entire desktop/window layouts via hotkey
The dev also makes several other useful window manipulation apps depending on how you like to work with them

Thinking of buying this monitor. Anything to know about ordering - any different revisions or anything? Also, to confirm, I'll be able to run 3840 x 1620 HiDPI on a M2 Pro MacBook Pro?

Is there a definitive answer as to whether base M4 chips can support HiDpi on these? Most threads are quite old and suggested a pending update may resolve?

I think you have your wires crossed. This is the one and only Ultrawide monitor that currently supports “ideal” scaled HiDPI resolutions on M4-based Macs (base M4 or Pro/Max variants). Because it can do 120 Hz.
