Anyone preorder from Walmart? Anyone with experience from past product launches?

Today I went to Wal-mart to see if i can still reserve one and get it on launch day and they told me yes! Plus I was the FIRST on their list! Lady told me the previous workers did not know that you can pre-order the iphone so no customers pre-ordered. So I left Super Happy!

I was told today that the number of reservation cards they have on hand is the number of phones they will get.

I reserved mine last Saturday for a black 16gb. I'm 5th on the list that wants the black 16gb with at&t carrier. The worker knew about the pre orders but don't know how many they'll get. So if I decide to cancel I can get my $25 deposit back? I kind of want the 32gb now.

Did a Preorder last year through Best Buy and it was a disaster, they "lost" my preorder even though I had all my paperwork, and was reassured multiple times it would be there for me. Went in the Afternoon on Lunch break to pick it up, They apparently "sold out"... Every other time I've ordered through Apple.com.

Most Walmart employees are clueless, but they also get paid ****. Buddy of mine got the 4S from Walmart last year launch day no problem

Preordered at Walmart yesterday morning. They had a BUNCH of cards left. I have heard that they are supposed to call you when it gets in, but I was not asked for a phone number or anything... so?

Either way, gonna stop by wally world on the way in to work on Friday and see whats up

I just spoke with my local Walmart. They hadn't had anyone preorder yet, but they said other locations were stopping preorders because of high demand. This location's cell phone department opens at 9 am on Friday, I'm not sure if that's true for other locations though.

They are supposed to get your phone number. When I per order mine, the worker took out a binder and there was a sheet they write down everyone who pre orders on the list. He writes the first and last name, phone number, color and size, and carrier. They will call people in order depending how many phones they get on Friday.

This is what I was told as well but who knows if it is true. I am just going to go in 30 min early on Friday and wait for the department to open at 8 am. If they don't have one I will just return my pre-order card, because there is an AT&T store walking distance from my office and I'll just risk the walk in.

Sams Club (owned by Walmart or Walmart owns them, not sure which one) was accepting reservations online for the past few days. Today they called my girlfriend to set up an appointment to pick it up Friday. Just some hope for those who preorder from Walmart. At least we have some confirmation that they will be getting some.
