Seriously thinking about returning my iphone 5, anyone else?
Had my iPhone 5 since Friday morning, so far the power charger has packed up and I am getting very annoyed with the space bar issue when typing, seem to be having to go back through as words are always joined up!
Bit miffed about having to buy more adapters for all my docks for home, car etc etc and also the price of them and lack of availability as well.
Has anyone else returned their iPhone 5 and picking another phone? If so which one are you going for?

IMO it really depends on carrier, on Verizon the Droid RAZR Maxx is the best (you need that extra battery with LTE!), on T-Mobile I really like the Galaxy Nexus the best (faux 4G speeds are freaking fast and you can get the $30/month plan). On AT&T I would stick with the iPhone 4S.

Never had an issue with the iPhone 4 before, until I switched over the Nexus. Bought an iPhone 4 for a relative and played around with it a couple of days. Subconsciously I've gotten so used to the virtual home buttons on the Nexus that now I find it a pain in the arse to have to use the home button on the iPhone every time I want to go back to the central location. That and the fact that there's no back button on the iPhone.

Didn't expect the virtual buttons to have that big of a positive impact on me, but having to use the iPhone 4 again that home button made me realize how much those virtual buttons mean to me. That, and the fact that I feel Apple has compromised user experience by making the display only taller, but not wider.

No going back for me. Coming from a 16g IP4 to a 32g IP5. Everything just works. 22mbit LTE, no wifi issues (Airport Extreme WPA2). I'm also too invested in the ecosystem to even think about another phone.

That said, I bought my wife a 4s yesterday. She wouldn't be amused with the extra height.

Yup, I'm getting a headache from all these posts from people looking for justification for returning their phones. Think for yourself. No one cares if you don't like your phone. It's a phone not a major life experience.

Thought long and hard about returning my iPhone 5 since I got it on the first day. Reading up on all the problems. And one of the problems (static lines) showed up on my device too. But then I realized I couldn't handle any other device. Keep in mind that I'm not talking about the OS here. Android is a great OS too but there is no sleek and beautiful device like the iPhone that runs true Android. Again, this is personal preference.

If you are having a genuine issues with the device such as the device being faulty, you should take it to Apple Store and have it looked at. If you're just worried about the current software related issues plaguing the iPhone 5 or iOS 6, Apple will be bringing out a solution soon enough, thats for sure.

Cancelled my order for iPhone 5 only because all this iOS 6 update mess. Will keep the 4S, maybe the last great iPhone. Very annoyed by Apple pushing to up(down)grade and red badge on Settings all the time screaming on home screen. Eagerly looking for great jailbreaking community to come up with the solution to restore to 5.1.1. 4S and 5.1.1 might be the best combination and the last one from Apple to stick with for a long time.

I can not understand why people like Android from a productivity and usability standpoint. But millions and millions of people disagree with me.

To the user who enjoyed the S3 much much more:

--did you notice that you can't use the S3 one-handed? I didn't even realize that I'd care until I got a huge device for the first time.
--did you notice that you hit the touch sensitive buttons along the bottom for no good reason? Esp when you rotate to landscape? In my experience, this doesn't really improve. You get used to where to grab, but over time I found myself developing a slight hesitation to grab the phone for fear of hitting a back button and
--exiting an app. Speaking of a back button, did you notice that the back button is all wrong on Android? Sometimes you exit an app, (pop an app off the recently viewed apps stack) and other times you go back within an app? Case in point is going into a weather app that I won't name....but you click to drill down into the weather forecast details. Fine. Then you hit back and you don't get back to the weather forecast overview. You go back into the mail app. Or the web browser. Or a game. Or whatever app you were just in. Trust me, this does not improve over time.
--With the S3 specifically did you notice the dim screen, even at max vs the iPhone and the pixellation?
--Did you notice the worse battery life despite the dim screen?
--Did you notice the general bugginess and lower quality of apps? I did. I'd get an app that would crash and then have an ad running over the top of the screen. Not fair to nitpick like that but at that point I was like "yup, a microcosm of my Android experience".

Definitely not trying to be a douche; I did notice these "issues" over a fairly short amount of time. They are genuine questions b/c I do meet people who love the S3, and others who use it but don't really have any "love" for their device. Ultimately I decided that core usability issues with the S3, despite the vastly greater # of features, would prevent me from enjoying the S3.

Normally when I change iPhones I pass the old one on to a family member or a friend. Sadly, I cannot in good conscience hand off this bug ridden iP5 to those I respect.

Now that I'm using my 4S again I'm reminded of just how great it is. I will be enjoying it till the release of iPhone 6. That may occur much sooner than anyone anticipated.

There's some articles just appearing on the web that suggest Apple may kill off the embarrassing iP5 by spring. Far earlier than normal. Frankly it's the best rumor, and potential news yet. I find it very exciting.

Time will tell :)

The only other option for me would be the S3 but honestly, the iPhone 5 is so good. I mean what's missing. It's superfast, light, thin and it runs the best mobile operating system yet

The good news is you don't have to understand.

Now that you've stated your opinion & got it out, I'm sure it's likely you feel better.

You're in good company since there's plenty of Android haters here. Certainly some will validate you.

Me? I enjoy iOS & Android nearly equally. A fact that I relish. Choice & variety are my friends. The energy I save by not hating is immense.

You people are bananas I love my iPhone 5 it's so fast and nice looking. Battery is a little wonky. 1 day I'll have fantastic battery life next day it'll suck. But once mophie releases a juice pack air that will all be fixed.

I have enjoyed my iPhone 5 so far, coming from the 3GS this is a huge upgrade, so far very little issues, i have had some wifi issues but only on certain routers i connected too and turning wifi off and then on seems to fix the problem so i can live with that, other then that and getting a small scratch on the band as i didn't buy a case right away its been a great phone. still i probably would have been happy enough with a 4S but since my upgrade was due in september i thought why not do the 5.

Please provide a link to these articles. I seriously doubt Apple has any intentions of killing off this "embarrassing" phone just yet. With 5 million being sold in a weekend I don't doubt there are some with problems as with any product. No product is going to make every customer happy but I bet a few of those 5 million are ok with the IP5.

Yup. Mine went back Friday. Don't miss it. Piece of junk for £500. Disgraceful. Bits falling off the case. Grrrrr. And just about everything I have is Apple. No PC in this house. 3 Macs, two iPhones. I'll stick with my 4S. Which may be the last of the great iPhones.

Wife listed her iP5 on ebay. Sold in less time than it took me to watch a episode of terra nova I think. She went back to the 4S. She even made money off it.

I sold my ip5 on craigslist and made a small profit on it. The thing that killed me was the signal quality (not to mention the nick on the bezel). I couldn't stream on it without it cutting out ever couple of mins. And the dreaded dropped call returned. I have owned everyone iPhone with the exception of the 3g. I don't hate apple but they really need to fix their antennae and QA. Unfortunately I'm not going through another year of dropped calls and no signal like I did with the 4. Though it improved some with the 4S.

It's unfortunate but the S3 and Note I didn't experience any of these issues. Not to mention I live in Los Angeles (we have ATT and Verizon LTE). I guess i'm going to wait for Note 2...:(

It's going back...
The spacebar thing is really doing my head in, the charger is bust, it does have a slick nick on the edge, the price plans are too expensive, I am sick of waiting for the adapters to be released and the maps are poor compared to google maps.
Wish I had kept my iPhone 4 now, the last great iPhone to be made.
p.s I am a apple fanboy, iMac, MacBook Air, previous iPhones and I have the ipad also so before people stat allying me a troll it's a decision I have seriously been thinking about...
Time for a change...

Who knows maybe the iPhone 6 will draw me back into the fold, good luck all...

I love Apple (Air, iPad, etc. *signature) but I wanted more from them and Samsung/android is giving me what I want in a Super Phone.

Why return it when you can (try to) make money off it? I haven't been this disappointed since my last BlackBerry, the Torch 9800 after two week I sold it.

I'm waiting for Samsung Galaxy Note II.

Sorry, I didn't capture them. But rest assured they're out there. I don't post out of boredom, or to make stuff up.

there is no superior alternative to the iPhone 5 it's a fact, so why do something stupid and get something else?

tittle of the thread should be are you planning on downgrading and getting an inferior phone?
