I preordered the 8 without really thinking it through. Now that i’ve had some time, i figure i should at least try the X out before making such an extravagant purchase. I will be returning it tomorrow and sticking with my iPhone 7 until i buy the X.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Since you already have the 7, I’d definitely wait for the X. You’ll be kicking yourself in about a month if you keep that 8 :)

Agreed. If you already have a 7 I wouldn’t even open the 8.

I’ll be honest. I currently have a 6s and will be getting a 8+ delivered tomorrow. While the X looks exciting my plan has been to stick with the S models the last 2 phones. No phone is a be all end all for me at this point. I don’t buy a phone to impress others. I buy what I like, when I like.

I’ll be fine for another year and can upgrade again if I like. Hopefully the Xs or whatever it’s called will be even better at that point and no so constrained. My current phone still does all I need but the 8+ will be a nice upgrade.

I ordered the 8 (replacing a 7) and will just wait and see. Want to try out the X in the store to get a feel for the way it works and read LOTS of reviews and personal opinions on how it works. If in 6 months (when I can pay off my 8) I like what I hear/see, then - assuming by then the Xs are readily available - I will pay off the 8 and bite the bullet. (Just not tell my better half how much it costs to pay off the 8.....)

Try all the apple products for 14 days each and then return. That's how you stick it to the man.

This is ridiculous the phone isn’t even officially out yet and we’re already talking about returns?

What is even more ridiculous is I was leaning towards picking up an iPhone 8 and holding out until the next iteration of the phone until I ran across this thread that is making me second guess myself...

Even the speed tests aren't showing any differences. Get the X

I have the 7+. I'm waiting for delivery of the 8+. There are some changes, but not radical changes. That's OK with me. I'll wait out until everyone has tried the X. And then next year I'll upgrade to the Xs, if that's what it is. My payment is the same whether I have the 7+ or the 8+, so that seems like an easy decision. Deciding on a completely untested phone seems a little more complicated.

I have an 8+ coming, my only concerns are really color and the size of the phone. I generally keep my phones in my front pocket. I get my phone later today, i’ll know pretty quickly if I need to exchange it. I’m going to the Apple store on Saturday for other stuff, if necessary I will exchange it then.

Apple does not have a restocking fee for iPhones, at least from the ones I have returned in years past. But as others have said, take advantage of the 14 days, you plenty of time to wait in between before you will receive your iPhone X.

I don't put much value in what Apple is advertising as the X's must have features so I am opting for the 8+.

I can't think of a reason to really want the X enough to pay for it.

TrueDepth camera, Animojis and Face ID all sound quite intriguing to at least try it out before making a decision. My iPhone 7 will do me just fine until November.

Except the 8 and the X have the same A11 Bionic chip and the 7 has the A10 chip. Not sure what you’re reading, mate.

Also, most reviews I’ve read have said that Apple really under-promised and over-delivered on the iPhone 8 camera improvements this year.

My 8+ is arriving today. But like you, I’ve changed my mind, and am now strongly leaning towards the X. So, I’m going to keep it in the shipping box and take it the Apple store where I can actually do some hands-on with the 8+ demo models before I make my final decision.

I have the 6 Plus and love it. Tried the 6S Plus and 7 Plus for extended periods, and both phones made me love my 6 Plus even more. No need for an 8 Plus or X.

Yes, and from the testing thus far, the 8 outperforms the 8 plus and the X, simply because it has the simplest screen to deal with! Then comes the 8 plus and lastly the X, with the most complex screen to work with in regards to ppi's and the upscaling necessary to fill it.

I don't think I'd be calling other people's threads ridiculous if I were someone who started a thread of their own to say that Apple should give out free iPhone 8s and 8 Pluses to use in the interim since they aren't releasing the X until November. o_O
