I don't think I'd be calling other people's threads ridiculous if I were someone who started a thread of their own to say that Apple should give out free iPhone 8s and 8 Pluses to use in the interim since they aren't releasing the X until November. o_O
That’s just the tip of the thread starting iceberg for her.

I have the 7+. I'm waiting for delivery of the 8+. There are some changes, but not radical changes. That's OK with me. I'll wait out until everyone has tried the X. And then next year I'll upgrade to the Xs, if that's what it is. My payment is the same whether I have the 7+ or the 8+, so that seems like an easy decision. Deciding on a completely untested phone seems a little more complicated.

I'm just going to keep the 7+ until next years models. I really want inductive charging and I really want the X, but the availability of the X is going to be absolutely horrible until mid 2018 (at least from wall street analysts reports). I can't justify waiting months to get the X, then 6 months later have the second version of it come out in September of 2018. I'll let them get all the manufacturing issues worked out and then pick up the second generation next year.

If you bought it from the Apple Store you have 14 days to return the phone.

I suggest you speak to the retailer from which you purchased your device.

The only thing that I fear is that I might not be able to get used to the smaller keyboard, coming from the 8+. I will give it a good try but that would be a deal breaker for me, it is why I have the + model.

Thanks for your reply guys! I'd had a conversation with the store they are saying now the device is activated so cannot help, the store manager keeps saying sorry nothing else.

Main issue is 7 days back when I gone to store to buy a new mobile they didn't even bother me to tell about new iPhone X being launched, so as a consumer I feel cheated / mis-guided.

I'm stuck in this thing :( I don't know what should I do, I clearly understand they wanted to clear the iPhone 8 stock thats why didn't told me about the latest device.

Should I go with consumer court complaint? Because I've spent around INR 73000 (1,127.30 USD) and the other iPhone is INR 89000 (1,374.32 USD) not a big difference and even I told store that I'm ready to exchange.

I don't know what should I do!

LOL. it’s neither their fault that you didn’t know about the X nor is it their obligation or responsibility to inform you of its upcoming debut.

Please own up to your mistake. It’s unbecoming to blame others for every little problem in life.

Enjoy your phone or sell it and buy an X.

I completely understand your point, but when you are a consumer and you go to a store trusting them that what they are telling is correct and give them hard earned money then it hurts.

I understand that you're disappointed, but what exactly did they tell you that was incorrect?

Performing due diligence isn't their business model--selling devices and plans is. I'm not sure why you "trust" them TBH.

The iPhone X release was plastered pretty much all over, why blame the store! You did not do your research before buying a 800$ phone, hardly the shop's fault!

So it was fine for you to have 7 days ago ....all happy and what not and now that the "new toy" is released you feel you are "stuck" with "that thing".... You should be happy you have a great device, a new one will always come out....

Next time before spending that kind of money at least do some research.

Or spend lots of money and go to court.... and most likely end up with less money and still "stuck with that thing".

I got the 8 Plus upgrading from a 6s Plus knowing the X was going to be available for preorder very soon. In doing my research, I read an article that summed it up pretty well for me with the use of an analogy comparing the iPhone 8 to a Honda and the iPhone X to a Mercedes. And guess what, I find myself in the former as opposed to the latter. Having used the 8 since release, I am completely happy with it, and perhaps the next iteration of the iPhone will compel me to upgrad. But for now, I am happy with my choice of iPhone 8 Plus. I wish all the iPhone X people the very best with their choice.

Well, some of benefits for those who stick with 8 series and not really the “annual”
Buyer would be getting refined face id and more size option in the future..and plus save money in the long run.

It’s not like Apple kept the X a secret. It’s not like they announced the 8 and 8 Plus without telling people about the X, only to announce the X two months later.

It’s all over the internet. iPhone X articles have been, like, literally impossible to avoid. You should have known.

Why not wait for X Plus next year?

But I have problem with Apple's Authorised Reseller who sold me this model just to clear the stock and not telling customer about new phone. Because I asked them what's new/latest to buy and there was no price restriction.

I'm Apple customer from a very long time using MacBook, etc. It's just that I was finally thinking to upgrade from iPhone 4S to latest model because it's was years! Because I'm not that guy who just buy whatever releases, I don't like to just through money.

The store managers accepts their fault but enable to help! So I feel that Apple should put some instruction with their Authorised Resellers to give customer the information about the devices which are coming and already released. Not just to clear the stock!

This what I'm thinking! It's not about fee for filling case, but it's I feel negligence in customer dealing by particular Apple's Authorised Reseller not Apple brand.

To reiterate - the 8/8 Plus/X are ALL the latest model.

When you asked for the latest model, they gave you the latest model because the 8/8 Plus is the latest model. They weren’t simply trying to clear stock, as those models will be on sale for at least 3 years.

If you’re worried about performance, the specs between the phones are identical.

I can’t really add to what was said already. You bought a device and you knew perfectly well that the X was coming. Your reseller didn’t mention it and now you try to twist this as if they somehow provided a bad service.
Take the problem up with them and next time check the shop’s return policy too. There is more than one place to purchase an iPhone.

That's what my point is I was not aware of new release of iPhone X. I got to know when my billing was done when somebody else was placing order for iPhone X.

For me those few dollars doesn't matter at all, I had a problem when I asked the store that what's the latest mobile and there is no budget restriction. So why they didn't told me about latest?

I completely agree that I also should have done a bit research but I was roaming in a Shopping Place and thought to get latest iPhone.

I preordered the 8 without really thinking it through. Now that i’ve had some time, i figure i should at least try the X out before making such an extravagant purchase. I will be returning it tomorrow and sticking with my iPhone 7 until i buy the X.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I have the 7+ and I love it. The dual lenses are a winner. I've taken some of the best pictures of my life with this phone. At this point on my fixed income budget, I think it will be my device for a few more cycles of Apple releases. More storage would be nice as I have 300+ apps 107 GB used of my 128 GB.

Like other posters here I cannot understand how you didn't know the X was a forthcoming iPhone? I am generally an Android user and I knew about the new series of Apple mobiles. The X is to celebrate 10 years of the Apple iPhone.

A couple of weeks ago I purchased the iPhone SE and was so impressed that yesterday I went and purchased the iPhone 8+. I own the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and will certainly be keeping it. To compliment my Note 8 I bought the iPhone 8+ knowing the X is around the corner here. I don't personally see the benefit of the X over the 350.00€ less expensive iPhone 8 plus? If I may be honest I dislike the X as that top bar in the screen is, to me, a deal breaker. Each to his or her own however.
