To think any business is completely willing to make less money is ignorant. They are just sticking to their guns as far as pricing by charging what they think is a fair price for their service.
I'm sure they have statistics on people who call retention and threaten to leave (to get a better deal) vs people who actually leave, and I'm guessing it sways more in the favor of the former.
It's not that hard to see who's bluffing. If a person wants to leave, they'll leave. They're not going to call AT&T to see if they will be saved. They'll just go. I'm betting a majority of the time that a person calls and threatens to leave, they want a deal...and the carrier's keep notes and statistics on this.
Now, the only time I can see someone calling before they switch is if they're standing in the store and need their account number before they port over. That's a different story. The poster was sitting at home and shopping for the deal and the Retentions rep let him know who's the Daddy in the relationship.
I would have ****ing left. **** the iPhone, **** the timing, **** waiting for a deal. That's unacceptable. I'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars a month to get disrespected. You might as well go to a restaurant and pay for them to spit in your food.
