I edited my previous reply. I had clicked the only 2018 browser article I could find that looked promising and NOPE! No speed tests. I confused that open tab with yours, my apologies.

Will people have some bugs on Safari and Mac? Yes. I've beta tested both OS's for a while and lemme tell you, boy have there been bugs. It doesn't surprise me that some people may have problems with Safari browser speed. But I firmly hold that it is the severe minority. Popular consensus, unless you can prove with statistics, is that Safari is faster. One of my referenced articles provides links to free testing software. Lots of apps. Go ahead, show me your own data since I can't find any to support your opinion, Mia-Rafael.

That’s a support article to a scareware program telling you to do things that are basic trouble shooting in the RARE event you encounter issues. I could go find an identical article for Chrome and Firefox.
Yes, that link Mia-Rafael is just trying to sell junk Mac spamware(?). At least software I'd steer far clear of. Never once needed software like that in my 10+ years of Mac usage.

That's quite irrelevant, but okay. They don't intentionally slow down older products except for well-explained reasons.
i call this blind love for a brand name (but we all work from home so i dont know if your happy with that ) but the sorry science story lol talk about pathetic, hahahahahaha, this one did not fool real techs in Europe as apple PAID for the deceptive practices.https://www.google.fr/search?q=appl...fox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=FCeTWoO-Fayk8wf_t4Iw talk about low!, Dont you miss Steve now?

You came on here asking for help, then went off on some strange rant about how Apple's not everything you think it should be, falling for that idiotic narrative that Apple slow down older iPhones so you're forced to upgrade (they aren't, you're not); saying Safari is slow, despite not providing evidence, and actually ignoring any evidence given to you.

People have tried to help you; I don't think they'll bother again.

Help is appreciated but if someone cant accept another using a non apple product its their problem, that is narcissistic, i already have a macbook pro and a over priced gold macbook, if thats not vain enough i dont know what is, im sitting next to a gf who has OSX on her lanovo yoga flying away with her fingers painting in photoshop.

safari sucks for me, accept it ok, just not what i need ;)

why are you so anti safari? get off the bandwagon, update your system, update safari and use away. If not, buy a new MacBook. No issues here.
try something DIFFERENT and you just might discover how far beyond broswers gotten, you dont have to be stuck with most of the apple hardware in 2011, i run both osx and win10 as well as use both platforms, get the most out of them before they get the most out of YOU! lol

that is what i call THINK DIFFERENT lol!!!!!

You really see no difference in scrolling this forum in Safari and Firefox/Chrome?

HUGE difference,

first of all when it comes to comparing Safari to other browsers its like Apple's "PREVIEW" to Adobe "Photohop"..

Bit no surprise since Apple makes COMPUTERS not browsers.

as i said, i cant live with out the scrapbook addon, it allows you capture web pages and organize them in the side menu panel.
Syncs all my tabs, blah between CHROME which also makes Safari look like netscape from the 1990s, all google of course.

depends what you need your browser for, if its just to search the net to buy something, read an article, use safari, but if you need more, saving web pages for offline reading (firefox addons) , translating on the fly (Chrome) and other browsers also offer tighter privacy., i dont min having safari on my macbook at all, but Apples best apps are not Safari bat all, maybe Final Cut, motion, Logic, but Safar??? lol never even heard anyone consider it a competitor, nothing special at all., just Apple.

Safari is my favourite browser on the Mac, but I also use Chrome. They each have their strengths.

I don't use Firefox at all on the Mac anymore.

This message was typed with Safari.

most people use safari because its the default browser, its not supposed to compete with real browser...its exactly the equivalent of apples preview against photo shop., its just a simple browser like microsoft explorer is for windows, no risks for children once set up in a public computer portal at schools because they cant save anything important for hackers to fish anyway...

but at home, on your own computer i say its a naive risk because your sharing your keychains on a browser any developer can hack and access the root to your computer then remote desktop your system!

but if your dont care then its ok

Safari has the sleekest implementation on the Mac and features some others don’t have such as blocking of audio/video autoplay. This will also be implemented in Chrome BTW starting Q2 2018 but has been available since last year in Safari. Chrome is playing catch-up here.

Safari is also the only browser on the Mac that supports 1080p Netflix. The other browsers are limited to 720p which is quite a noticeable difference on a 27” iMac.

BTW, I don’t share keychains for Safari, not because of security reasons but because I have no use for it.

You dont need a browser to watch Netflix at 1080p, why waste more memory when you can get the app..; ) unless you talking about using Netflix illegally aka hacked the website.

And everything you said about safari existed in other browsers since 2014-2015., come to think of it Tim Cooks has been stuck in 2015, Apple is more about LGBT activism then innovation but he could care less about apple, you can install High Sierra with Safari on a slicker, faster laptop with a high res 4k touch screen for the price of a macbook pro and it comes with tons of ports and options. Voila...solution for Tim Cooks.

Im happy with my 2015 macbook, never thought i would buy a gold mac, sounds crazy, not me, but its stylish and perfect in bed at night.

But Honestly., im not sure apple has a future, the chances of another Steve Jobs coming along are slim even with the number of war torn Syrian or jewish families today.

It all comes down to an individual's preferences. I personally, after years of windows and Android (chrome and all) have come to appreciate Apple, not just for the quality of their products and little things that are being taken for granted, I appreciate Apple for the ecosystem it offers and how secure, simple and easy it makes things.

It's the best thing that has happened to computing; especially with Google and Microsoft feeding off people's data and making a mess of simple tasks such as emails and browsing - Apple is King

I use Safari and only it on my Mac products because that's what I can comfortably access my secure sites such as banking platforms, etc without thinking of a background running "add-on" phishing on my passwords and details.

It just works for me.

It's not about Steve Jobs, it's about his legacy and what his team (Apple) stands for.

I'm hoping and wishing they hit the $1Trillion mark in 2018 so they can offer more quality services and products at affordable prices.

i like apple too, i cant stand Android! i love newer Samsung phones but stirr far away from Android or windows, always believed they where a Chinese copy of macs.

Steve had issues with not been part of Apple in the early 1990s, so it did make a difference with him, Tim Cook is too much LGBT activism and less Apple, sorry , i have doubts about how long Apple can milk the legacy

The legacy is Apple.

I need to know if its a good idea to upgrade from el captain cause i just got a older macbook early 2015 for less then 800€ in france.

cheers!

i'm extremely unhappy that I decided to install High Sierra. If you can find an upgrade to Sierra do so. Otherwise, I would probably stick with what you have unless some apps require you to upgrade.

I just bought one and it’s currently sitting on the charger as it wouldn’t turn on. First DOA Apple device I’ve ever gotten. Hoping it’s just the dead battery and not truly a bad unit.

I'm so happy on El Cap. I read a lot of horror stories from Sierra and HS. I would stick to the one that came with the computer. My battery life is amazing and I have no performance complains.
