Some people on Reddit are saying that rebooting the Watch also resolves the issue. I'll try that. I don't want to lose my exercise data :(
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but as long as your watch is synched to your phone, it will all come back once you re-pair after rebooting. At least that seems to be the case with mine

Normally yes, but he was talking about resetting the watch completely. I'm not sure what is stored where, but some people did report losing their data (or some of it) when they got a new watch.

Came here to post this. Was on 4.1 with my 7+, battery lasted with about 30% available at the end of the day on average.

Switched to iPhone X, now my battery is dead at 6PM. And this is with like zero usage, other than checking the time.

Tomorrow I’ll manually be setting the LTE off to see if it is something with the watch losing connection and searching for cellular...that is my only thought...

Yep. Series3(not LTE) & Iphone 8+ and battery life on the watch seems significantly worse since WatchOS 4.1/IOS11.1.

Isn't all the data measured by the watched stored on the phone via HealthKit? I've never done it myself so I might miss a trick, but I would presume the watch will just synchronise back to the same way it was before being reset.

Is under control centre on the Watch, wifi icon perpetually blue suggesting it’s constantly on?

Hmm--I have iPhone X and AW 3lte (not activated)I only drop fromm 100% at 6:30 am to right now it is 8:45 PM and I still have 79%

I restored the watch and all is well. Will report back tomorrow morning since that’s the true test. I always go to bed on a full charge for sleep tracking. I’m usually 95% or so by morning.

I’m wondering if somehow the watches were in LTE the whole time for those of us who have that activated. It’s about the only thing I can think. Very strange issue. Of course that doesn’t explain older models exhibiting similar issues.

Same issue here, Series 1 Watch / iPhone X.... First time it happened, I thought that I hadn't connected the Watch to the charger correctly overnight or something... this morning I'm at 56% after 5 hours, I haven't actually used the watch, all it has done is receive incoming notifications.

tried reboot of the watch... no luck. Actually started getting notifications from yesterday all over again today. So I did a watch erase and unpair followed by a restore from backup.

So far so good... we'll see.

Got the iPhone X yesterday and synced it with my Apple Watch Series 3 I had with my previous iPhone and I’ve noticed the battery is draining like crazy. I’ve been able to get to 60 or sometimes 70% by the end of a day and charge it every night, but now I’m almost at 50% not even through half of the day. Anyone else seeing this issue? Not sure if it’s 4.1 or the iPhone X that might be doing this.

Thanks!
Correct, when you paired the Watch again with the new phone, the Watch OS will auto-transfer any music it deems frequently listened to by default. This is the cause of your battery drain. At least it was for me and I don't listen to music on my watch. Second day with the iPhone X no battery issues with my watch and I haven't experienced any battery issues since then.

So fingers crossed but it seems like I was able to get back to normal battery life on my original Apple Watch and iPhone X, I unpaired and then repaired and synced from the latest back up and that seemed to do the trick, today I went through my regular day 6:30 am checking alerts and what not and I’m down to 53% which is do able, I was going to contact apple but glad that it seems good now

It’s definately 4.1.

The last time I left my watch at home and went out was when it was on 4.0. Left at 8am and checked it at 8pm and it was at 90%

I left it at home today and left again. Came back home and it was at 58%.
Difference it’s on 4.1

So both times phone wasn’t connected to it.

I’m assuming it connected to wifi.

So a reboot seems to have resolved the issue for me - no unpair/repair, no watch reset.

I left home with my watch at 100% this morning a little before 7am. It's now 9pm and the battery is at 58%. Normal usage throughout the day, mostly using wifi and/or the phone's connection. No call, a few texts received, a couple of them replied to (still with the iphone somewhere close by), and a one-hour workout with music intermittently played from the watch.

This is on par with what I used to see before WatchOS 4.1 and before the iphone X. Either the reboot has resolved the issue, or the watch spent a couple of days doing some background work after upgrade / restore / pairing with a new phone on Friday.

Got the iPhone X on Friday and did the 11.1 update, and transferred my watch pairing from my 7+ in the evening before bed, when I charged it overnight as usual. It seemed fine.

Sunday morning I did the Watch OS 4.1 update, which took 3 tries due to an error verifying the update. After that I was down to 4% after 15 hours by bedtime, when I'm normally at 70% after 15-16 hours each day (see the AW3 thread where I documented a consistent 70% left at the end of every day).

I forgot to take the watch off that night for the first time when I went to bed last night, and it was in low-power mode this AM. I rebooted the watch at 8AM and placed it on the charger, with it up to 100% by approx 10AM. And now about 12 hours later I have 75% remaining on the battery.

It seems almost back to normal, except I only had about 3.3 hours of use instead of my usual 5-6 hours. I think it's Watch OS 4.1 not the iPhone X, because the watch was fine on the previous Watch OS on Saturday with the iPhone X. But the Reboot from low-power mode is the only reason I can see why it improved.

Had exactly the same issues as described here. AW3 paired to 6s on 4.1 would easily last a full day and night and into the next morning before power save mode. This changed with the handover to the X. The battery would drain to the point where it would be dead by 10pm after a full charge at 7am. That's not with heavy use. Taking the advice here I unpaired and repaired to see if that helped. It was a bit of a faff but I didn't lose any data and from 100% at 6.45am this morning to 12.45pm I'm still on 89% which is back inline with what it was pre X.

Well, the good news is that my Watch seems to have improved very dramatically... today I've been wearing it for 3 hours and it is still at 100%, yesterday it was literally draining in front of my eyes.

Well after setting up as ew watch, battery life has improved remarkably.
Back to easily getting a days life with my Series 0.
Take it off charge at 6am and going to bed around 11:30pm with around 20%
