Well after setting up as ew watch, battery life has improved remarkably.
Back to easily getting a days life with my Series 0.
Take it off charge at 6am and going to bed around 11:30pm with around 20%

Yes, I have improved Series 0 battery life after setting it up as a new watch. I had previously had it paired with my iPhone 7 plus (under the same Watch OS and iOS as with the X). Although battery life improved, it is still lower than seen before pairing with the iPhone X. Now, it's good enough to last me a full day.

Strangely enough its back to normal again I think

off the charger at 8am and its 11am now and still 100%. No change done whatsoever on watch or phone.

Got the iPhone X on Friday and did the 11.1 update, and transferred my watch pairing from my 7+ in the evening before bed, when I charged it overnight as usual. It seemed fine.

Sunday morning I did the Watch OS 4.1 update, which took 3 tries due to an error verifying the update. After that I was down to 4% after 15 hours by bedtime, when I'm normally at 70% after 15-16 hours each day (see the AW3 thread where I documented a consistent 70% left at the end of every day).

I forgot to take the watch off that night for the first time when I went to bed last night, and it was in low-power mode this AM. I rebooted the watch at 8AM and placed it on the charger, with it up to 100% by approx 10AM. And now about 12 hours later I have 75% remaining on the battery.

It seems almost back to normal, except I only had about 3.3 hours of use instead of my usual 5-6 hours. I think it's Watch OS 4.1 not the iPhone X, because the watch was fine on the previous Watch OS on Saturday with the iPhone X. But the Reboot from low-power mode is the only reason I can see why it improved.

Today after 13 hours off the charger and 4 hours of use (30 min workout too) it's at 77% which is slightly better than yesterday and almost back to normal.

But usually I'm at 70% after 16 hours and 5-6 hours of use. Since I'm awake for another 3-4 hours I will see if it stays above 70% which means it's back to normal.

I was just about to make a thread asking about the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Ever since my AW3 died, the night I activated my X (Friday night) it lasted 4 days of use without being charged.

Charged Friday night, used Saturday, put in power save mode, used Sunday, put in Powersave mode, used Monday, put in powersave mode, used Tuesday. I COULD NOT BELIEVE this change in battery life, TOTALLY INSANE!

It’s 6pm here and Watch has been off charger for 10hrs+

Even usage is correct now. 2hrs+ And battery is at 85%

Previously it would be usage 4-5hrs+

What could have changed in the last few days I don’t know

Okay, at bedtime I have been unplugged for 17 hours and had 5 hours of usage, with my battery at 67%, so I'm pretty sure that I'm back to normal.

No idea why on Sunday it ran down to 4% after about 17 hours, other than the 4.1 update that morning. It was normal at 70% by bedtime the day before on Saturday, which was the day after I switched my AW3 LTE from iPhone 7+ to my new X.

Do you guys think that the "Bedtime" feature in the Clock App which monitors sleep and creates sleep data in the Health app every night is responsible for battery drain?

AW3 LTE (activated) - went from being able to wear two days straight before charging... to being below 20% with just 15 hours of minimal use - after pairing with IPX

Restore your watches folks. It has worked for a few (including me) in this thread as well as two coworkers of mine. IDK what the deal is, but just do it. Should take under an hour.

I am currently sitting at 73% battery with around 28 hours off the charger.

I use "sleep watch" app and it doesn't seem to effect my battery. 6-7 hours of sleep drains 3-4%.

Got the iPhone X yesterday and synced it with my Apple Watch Series 3 I had with my previous iPhone and I’ve noticed the battery is draining like crazy.

I just noticed this yesterday! I got my X on Monday. My LTE series 3 battery life has been so great I don’t think of it anymore. Yesterday I did a 50 minute bike ride at lunch without my X and by the time I got home from work my watch gave me the 10% battery warning. Wonder what’s causing it? Just rebooted my watch. Hopefully that will resolve without resetting.

I’ve been able to get to 60 or sometimes 70% by the end of a day and charge it every night, but now I’m almost at 50% not even through half of the day. Anyone else seeing this issue? Not sure if it’s 4.1 or the iPhone X that might be doing this.

Thanks!

Yes - I could go 2 full days without charging - but since the iphone x, I have to charge it each night..didn't think it was the X, but maybe it could be - it's something I hadn't considered until now.

Its not just the iPhone X. I had a series 3 LTE and a 6S. Battery life was amazing. I bought a regular iPhone 8 over the weekend and during set up the watch switched itself over to the 8. Ever since then battery life has been 20-30% worse by the end of the day.

I am going to go down the troubleshooting tree over the next 3 days.
1) I just restarted the watch like a few others have done. If that doesn't help the battery I will move to....
2) unpairing and repairing. I am not exactly sure what the difference is between this and "erase all contents and settings" though. Can anyone explain what this does to the data on the watch and iPhone?
3) Erase all content and setting, then try to re pair with iPhone 8. Does the "backup" on the iPhone automatically put everything back on the watch? What about a active LTE plan? Will that be restored as well?

hey guys,

Ever since watchOS 4 I've been getting pretty bad battery life on a S2. I used to get two full days but now I barely get one. I've tried unpairing and repairing a couple times but with no luck, is there anything else that you guys have done that you've found that works? I really don't want to lose my workout data, any solutions that would avoid erasing that would be great!

Yes pretty much the same on my S2. I used to be be around 55% after 24 hours of use pretty much every day (including wearing the watch during the night for sleep tracking) - except on days using the GPS to track runs. And now sometimes it is down to 10%. But what is strange is that it seems a bit random and on certain days it is close to what I was getting before.

Is it kind of random for you as well or just bad performance everyday?

I’m pretty sure that’s a bug. Both my wife and I moved from 7 series to X with our Apple Watch 3. Both of us experience massive power drain on the Watch that first day. Battery didn’t even make it through the day.

After reboot/charging the Watch it’s been fine since. No need to reset/re-pair.

I rebooted my watch and it’s back to normal: 88% after a full work day. Phew... what a relief!

Mine was draining madly this morning. Within 3 hours off the charger at 100%, it had gone down to 27%. I rebooted the watch and it went down from 27% to 12% in 7 hours.

My S0 Watch has had abysmal battery life since the latest watchOS update. I don't have my X yet, so it's not that. I've gone from a typical 24 hours draining 60% of the battery (I keep it on while sleeping and charge it in the morning) to it running down about 10-15% per hour. Rebooting the Watch has not helped.

UPDATE: When my S0 Watch drained from 100% to dead in 8 hours earlier today, I decided enough was enough and followed the recommendations in this thread to wipe it and repair-as-new (not from backup, and with automatic-app-install turned off). I then installed just a critical core of apps.

This didn't take very long, and the Watch's power consumption is back to normal! The watch is more responsive and the screen is smoother, too. (The process was also a reminder of how nifty the pairing process is for this Watch, with the colorful swirling-cloud-of-pixels doing the job instantly.)

So... so far so good, and I'm chalking up my power issue to a subtly borked upgrade.

No need to go further down my troubleshooting list. After the restart my watch battery life is completely back to normal. been wearing it for 4 hours and it is only down to 98%

I did find that if I removed the watch from my iPhone and then resynced it the battery life is pretty much back to normal. The same thing was also having with my AirPods and after doing that the battery life is much better.

When you resynced your watch did you restore from a backup on your phone or did you set it up as a new watch? If so do do you lose all your workout data?

I did restore from a backup so everything came back. It seems it may have been an issue with the actual bluetooth connection when I switched to my iPhone X and restored from a backup for the actual phone.

Folks, I had same issue and unpaired and re paired back up today or seems back to normal.

Can you all have a look at the music button on the iPhone watch app does your heavy rotation option just spin around constantly?

Interesting, I've resynced my watch twice now and have rebooted it a couple of times. I'm still getting sub-optimal battery life on my S2. Anyone else find another solution?

No issues on my end, sorry.
