I'm skipping it because my phone now is everything the iPhone 6 will be, plus I have 2GB of ram already.

plus my ambient light sensor actually works, unlike the iPhone where it goes bright and then you have to turn off the screen and back on to make it go down again.

Unbelievable.

Also my battery is twice as big as the iPhone 6.

What can Apple do to make me go back to an iPhone. That should be the question.
For many/most the ambient light sensor on the iPhone works fine.

You obviously haven't used Safari on an iPad Air with iOS 7. Try to compose a long MacRumors post, switch tabs and then come back and see if your post is still there. 1GB RAM isn't enough for all use cases.

I've had issues composing long posts on chrome on Ubuntu and chrome/ie on windows. My preferred method of long post entry is composition in another application and then cut and paste on all platforms.

Enjoy your battery, ram and ambient light sensor. I hope you are enjoying your current phone. I really like my "junky" 5S.

That's why 2GB are absolutely necessary on the iPad.
I want to have the same memory amount on the iPhone, even though the problem with Safari on the iPhone is not only the RAM. I find it very difficult to browse a web site not optimised for a mobile device, and I have an hard time trying to write a post on a forum or write a long answer to an email, but this is due to the tiny keyboard.

Is anyone going to not upgrade to i6 if there is only 1 gb RAM.

If the new iPhone comes with only 1GB RAM I don't think I'll be buying the new iPhone, I know for some people 1GB RAM is enough but on my retina iPad mini the constant refreshing of apps has become so annoying that I will definitely be upgrading this fall if a 2GB version is released due out of frustration. Apple holding back some technology on its flagship devices just so that people upgrade constantly is just annoying. They're using their superiority in the market to rip customers of. The smartphone market is very different to the tablet market and android smartphones such as the HTC one M8 seem quite attractive to me considering its specs and reviews are positive (bar the camera). Is anyone else just annoyed by apple ignorance on the RAM issue .

Yes. RAM doesn't really matter to me as long as the phone runs fine. I know everyone loves to point out the Safari tabs reloading, but I'm not convinced that it's a RAM issue.

I'll definitely buy it, if ram really is an issue, I'll return it, it's that simple!

RAM shram! As long as it runs fluidly, who cares. Samsung has been putting 2 gig of RAM into their device and they still lag from time to time. I've even seen a stutter or two on the LG G3 and it has 3 gigs of RAM.

It doesn't reload browser tabs though. Stutters in the os and the skin on top of it are totally unrelated

1.) Im buying the 6 no matter what

2.) The iPhone does run pretty sweet so I think they got this covered

(a month ago, when everyone thought they'd go to 2GB):

"O heck yeah! If Apple don't upgrade the RAM I'm LEAVING!!! Android here I COME! BOOM!!!!"

(now that we know it will have 1GB):

"Where do I line up?"

LOL @ idle threats

:p

I'm going to wait and see what the reviewers have to say about it's performance first, although I'm sure it will be fine.

I agree with others and as long as the iPhone 6 operates well I could care less how much memory it has.
i will only operate a phone if it has at least 32gb ram. 16gb is the minimum. Little ram is bad luck, says my witchdoctor.

I think he means the software algorithm for dimming. Its insanely slow in iOS. There are JB tweaks to fix it. Like most people I'll just lock the device and turn it back on when the situation arrises.

App reloads and tab refreshes. I could care less about fluidity, I want function over form.
