Is the series 2 a good enough update over series 0?
Yes.
Is the series 2 a good enough update over series 0?
So I had to return my Series 3 steel apple watch due to issues now the wait is forever and a day for a new one. I have the series 0 currently. Here is my question Bestbuy have a SS Space Black new in box series 2 for $429.99 should i get that and just wait on the Series 3 with lte I can sell both my watchs to put a dent in the series 3. Is the series 2 a good enough update over series 0?
I was a SS0 owner and was on the fence about upgrading. I really couldn't see the advantage and wasn't sure about cellular. Well I did upgrade and although I like the cellular, the real winner for me is the speed. I didn't realize how slow my S0 watch was until I got the S3. Now I can read mail and text on the watch routinely where with my S0 I only did it when I didn't have another option because it was so painfully slow. Anyway, just a thought for anyone on the fence.
I have caved and done the same. 3rd party apps now fly as you’d expect (Omnifocus was always a well written one but now really flies). I will be intrigued at how the battery fares as that’s my biggest gripe with my S0.
... and it's faaaster and the water lock and the bigger battery (0.78Whr vs. 1.0xWhr) and it's faaaster ...The major differences with the Series 2 is the added GPS functionality, and has a display that is twice as bright as the first generation Apple Watch and 50 m water resistant.
After 2.5 years of my S0, I am finally upgrading to a Nike S3. I will keep my S0 as a backup, but the slowness of S0 is really starting to show, especially in the workout app (which I use the most).
I was very surprised it got 4.0. I would have said no.Same. I'll keep the S0 as a sleep tracker and as a backup for the Nike S3 in case something goes wrong with it... but for daily use, the S0 is really starting to show its age. I very much doubt it'll be supported in watchOS 5.

Given the choice, I'd still opt for the S3 now. The performance improvements show, Siri is a whole new experience, the better speaker helps with not only hearing Siri, but also your phone calls better and the LTE option is definitely worth it.
All imho ...![]()

My screen on my Apple Watch 0 is totally dead now. I still wear it since it still vibrates letting me know that I received a message. You don't know what you have till its gone. My new series 3 should be here shortly!
I have a Series 0 but some of the functions don't work. Siri no longer works on it as well as some other minor things. I think this is my fault though. When I first got it, I forgot I was wearing it and took a dive into a pool, even though I took it off right away, the damage must have already been done.
The first generation Apple Watch only has a splash resistant rating, so perhaps submerging in the pool had some other negative effects.
The old YMMV. I had been in the pool every Sunday for 30 minutes for a few months. The only issue was a muffled speaker for a few hours - until I worked out how to clear it. There’s a blog post somewhere the author took it in the sea.
[Update: First link with reference to some tests, and the second link is the one I was thinking of:]

But then I banged it against the wall real hard. I was surprised the screen showed hardly any blemish. But then after another stint in the pool, this time for an hour and a half in very warm water, it finally fizzled out. It was maybe five months old? It was too new a product and Apple had no way at the time to determine the problem, so I got a replacement.
Haven’t intentionally jumped in the pool with it since, maybe once, but shower with it as Tim Cook suggested and to this day with no ill effects.
Anyone have pictures of their screens on their Series 0? Interested to know how the screen holds up (non-stainless steel)
