Try to disable MMS messaging in settings. That seems to improve things for some people.

Thanks for the help, but i think I have tried every combination of settings to no avail... (did I use that word right?)

I tried gizmodos guide to get mms working and all it did was give me tethering because I downloaded the carrier update so I would just wait, thats what I'm doing. Plus unless you have unlimited texting you really don't know what charges they can hit you with.

When I put the first beta of 3.0 on my iPhone I called AT&T and made sure that MMS was included in the text plan. The girl I spoke with insured me that all AT&T text plans include MMS at no additional charge. I had her ask a manager just to make sure and she did and the manager confirmed. So unless they play a nasty nasty trick on iPhone users in June, it should just be included.

You can look up your plan and see that that is really the case with MMS, it just never applied before because the iPhone didn't have MMS yet.

So after all that confirmation, I tried to send some MMS texts only to find out that it wasn't fully enabled yet lol!

Good to know. I had mine working for a day before i even tried gizmodo and I was able to receive one pic and one video. Then I went to bed, woke up to find it back to normal. I've been dealing with it for almost two years now so I guess a few more months isn't so bad.

Beta 3 is pretty good for me.

apps that crashed constantly in Beta 2 for me don't crash now (at least as often) and cut/paste works.. beta 2 wouldn't allow me to paste from the clipboard when I did a "cut".. beta 3 does.

A2DP still has some skipping under certain circumstances, but it is pretty easy to avoid for me.

I won't be downgrading unless my device is rendered in-operable and restoring to 3.0 won't fix it.

A2DP has me listening to the ipod again, which I had given up because of the damn cords and the inconvenience they cause.

If I were an 2nd gen ipod touch user, the bluetooth audio alone would be worth more than the $10 apple will ask for the upgrade.

I have had the betas on since first release. b1 was very unstable. b2 everything was working for the most part just long lag times, app crashes...

b3 is a little more stable but everything is working that was before except a few apps that I can live without.

I'm so in love with stereo bluetooth that the bugs are worth it. Being able to text and email sideways when rotating the phone is pretty nice. Easier to type faster and not fat finger. I haven't used copy and paste once...but when I do I'll be glad it's there.

Honestly, for me, those are the only things that make it worth adventuring into beta land. And, development of apps, of course.

The free memory app seems to help keep things running better..

I am a student, use my iPhone 3G about 6-10 hours daily. I got 3.0 at the launch of Beta 2, and I love it. Experienced a few growing pains coming from 2.2.1, but it's so much better than the jailbroken 2.2 I had.

3.03 is working fine for me - I have MMS, YouTube, Contacts - all Syncing and backups are faster and battery life is way better than any previous s/w version.

I have no issues. 2 hours of Conf Calls, Exchange mail and 3 mac accounts no issues. No messaging issues and thank god the sound issues are gone.

Pugnut,

Since you're using Exchange, can you confirm that you can now schedule meetings and invite contacts to them? Have you noticed any other enhancements for Exchange email?

Thanks,
Rich

Yep, you can schedule and invites go out , but you can not see their schedules.

Yeah this crud started happening to me too. It is annoying. I had to restart the iPhone just to input a number. Got to love beta lol :D

i found a work around that doesn't require a restart. You need an app from the app store that allows you to free the memory (I use iStat). I think this removes some cached files and forces the iPhone to reload the keypad.

Oh nice. I'll have to try that next time. I have MemoryInfo. I think a lot of beta testers have some sort of memory program since it causes a lot of apps to be a memory hog (not being able to force quit apps now).

Only a couple minor issues so far.

I only have a couple of minor bugs:

1) When mms is turned on sometimes if i send a regular sms message and leave the app before it completes and then go back to the message it is hung on sending at about 90% and never finishes. I turned off mms and it seems to be ok now. Guess mms is still not ready for prime time.

1) Some of my album art does not show up in sideways mode(just get the ?) on the ipod app but it is there for the same album in vertical mode.

Here's a bug I have. When I go into the iPod app and select video, non of my five videos are shown! The only way I can view them is if I go to Finder and search the name of the video.

Also, I'm experiencing the bug where the number pad drops down when using the phone.

Settings crashes on me when I try to go into Network and then Carrier Settings.
