Same here. On AT&T and have Spectrum internet.
Got a specialist on the phone and we did a comparison with what I have vs wheat I would get.
AT&T was more expensive but has more flexibility, better device options, and better overall services. Spectrum would give me cheaper monthly services but the initial outlay was prohibitive and the lower grade services was a killer.

I mean it's clearly written on their website before you buy:

"DVD-quality video streaming is supported. Video typically streams at 480p."

We're Spectrum internet customers and used to have their TV services. If there is one thing I know for sure, you CANNOT trust a word they say on the phone. Regardless what quality you think you're getting, it's likely 480p. You're not getting 4K from Spectrum. LOL.

I don't think they limit your video quality and I used the Spectrum Mobile service a full 24 hours at home and work. What I think that happens on the Spectrum Mobile phones, is yes they use LTE towers. But their ISP routers are in Kansas so I think they are rate limiting.

While investigating this I see Verizon doing the same thing with their plans. 480p option/plan, 720p, 1080p, etc. Give me a f break. I just renewed with ATT and I'm on grandfathered unlimited plan. As soon as I renewed, in the documentation it mentions "Stream Saver". So I logged into their portal and turned that S off. Spectrum Mobile doesn't allow you turn theirs off. So you get what you are going to get.

I know where this is coming from too. A certain demographic watching Netflix, Hulu, or whatever else video streams all the time and just tearing up GB's. So these people are making EVERYONE pay, literally. Well screw that. Charge the heavy GB users $200 a month and leave the rest of us alone. GET OFF MY LAWN!

I've been following this for a while. I can't trust my ISP enough to use their phone service let alone a mobile service. Even if it's piggybacking off of Verizon, which we do use. I've had 4 techs in weeks coming out to troubleshoot our recent upgrade from 300 to 400 Mbps. It isn't instilling much confidence in me to order their Gig service (940 Mbps).

I don't think any ISP is capable of transmitting 4K video over coax or fiber. Too much bandwidth. 4K streaming from a streaming based company like Netflix or Amazon is doable, though, provided you have hardware to decode it. And even those guys don't offer full 4K video that hasn't been compressed.

All video is compressed. Netflix offers 4K streaming. Apple TV4K can display it. Our phones, however, cannot.

25-50mbs is recommended for 4k streaming.

Without BYOD, Spectrum Mobile is garbage. You get what you pay for.

Now Spectrum has BYOD and I have actually ordered SIM cards for my two phone from AT&T. I use the IUP program now and since I have always been with a main 4 carrier I did not realize this was a restriction. I was really looking forward to cutting my bill in half, but looks like I may have to forget that or order 9/13 via my AT&T account and then port over. Hmm going to have to think about it.

How’s the LTE speed on the Spectrum Mobile? I’ve heard that Verizon network is pretty congested and slow. I guess it would also depend on the location.

Switched to Spectrum from Verizon in June. Very happy with service, brought my Xs Max & my wife's SE over. Have since upgraded to 11 Pro Max bought via Apple, swap sim & away I went. At home yesterday Speedtest shows 206Mbps down, 45.2 up.

@tfildes did you buy through IUP or just purchase? Still thinking of switching from ATT once I get my phones. Then just buy-out and sell or keep 2 years next year.
