Long story short, my preorder got cancelled. My work schedule happened to get switched around this week so I will be able to wait in line.

I called a couple local AT&T stores and all they will tell me is "we won't know until Friday." Has anyone here actually talked to an AT&T store that has said they will have 6+ supply on the 19th?
If you called and they said they would have 50, 100 or 500 would you believe them? They can quote whatever number to encourage you to come to their store. To be safe you have to be one of the early ones in line.

Went to my local store for something unrelated and they said last year they had less than 10 5s'... Not looking too good. I may just make the trip to the nearest big city

Well, it's a little different than a straight upgrade. I want to use an upgrade eligible phone on my account to upgrade my line. The upgrade eligible line isn't connected to a smart phone (it doesn't have a data plan). If I use that line at Apple I wonder if they may have to sign it up with a data plan.

Yes they will.
And then once you get the phone you call AT&T to have the data plan removed from that line. Pretty easy.

None of the AT&T stores have any idea how many of the Plus units they will have, Will not know till Thursday night. A friend of my at AT&T says it will lilely be months before Apple will satisfy the people who want Plus units!

Go to the store the night before and ask politely if there is a good chance you good get one the next day. If they will not tell you, I wouldn't wait there.

Yeah I missed out on the pre-order as well, but luckily the att store in my area does not get packed right away so I hope I can at least be one the 1st 3 people in line so I can better my chances of getting one...if not I will be fine with a 4.7 as well...

I went into an AT&T store a couple hours ago to ask about this and they told me that I could go to an Apple store and just upgrade that phone line and swap my sim out but AT&T told me that Apple would have to have that phone in order to do the upgrade and that doing the upgrade that way would cause the phone/line to temporarily be deactivated.

I wouldn't be able to bring the phone with me to Apple because it's my In-Laws and the phone with the line I want to use is 500 miles away.

Now I don't know if this is true or not so maybe someone can confirm.

I am still seriously considering waiting at the AT&T store at about 11 or 12. I don't know if this might be a good thing or not but just a few stores down in the same strip center is a Verizon store, this could be for a pretty interesting time. It would be so cool though if I had someone to wait in line with so that we could hold each others spots.
