Anyone tired of Midnight color?

My first ever MacBook was an m2 in midnight, I returned it after two weeks, just barely using the ports was already getting small scratches around them. Just don't think it was going to age well and I prefer to keep my devices long term and resell them.

Beautiful colour when new, but silver wins for me

I've read this thread a few times trying to decide!
Looking at a 15" M5 Midnight Air and trading in a silver M1 MBP. It does get dusty but I don't clean it very often probably because it doesn't show as bad on silver.

I 'think' I want the Midnight Air but am having a hard time reading the mix of reviews here on that color.
Is the midnight air and the 13" iPad Pro in black the same coating? I don't notice fingerprints on the iPad using a MKB but realize an Air has areas around the touch pad that will get touched often and may show more.

Anyone have any decent photo's of fingerprints and chips around the accessory ports?

Will be going to the Apple store shortly to see them in person.

Also do you use alcohol to clean the midnight as well as the keyboard?

Been using my Midnight M5 Air now for a month. The Trackpad remains totally clear of fingerprints.
Definitely do not use any alcohol. Plain water with a damp lint free cloth keeps the inside crystal clean for me.
The outside is protected with a shell so I'm not concerned if the shell gets fingermarks..... again easily wiped off.

Not sure about the coating but they are obviously different colours. Midnight on the MBA is the best colour imo, but they do attract fingerprints very quickly but you cant go wrong with silver or midnight.

I bought an Midnight M2 Air at launch.
Fitted a 3M perfectly colour matched skin to the top case , bottom case and keyboard area from new which I found on ebay from China so zero issues with fingerprints.
Zero marks around ports ( no skin on the sides )
But boy oh boy I am so fed up with the dark colour.

I do like the color, but I could never own a MacBook with it. I'd spend more time cleaning it than using it! But it looks great on other things, like APM2, for example.

Three years ago I almost bought an M2 15" MacBook Air. I saw it in the Apple Store in midnight and loved how it looked. But, I decided to keep using my M1.

Now, however, I'm looking to upgrade to the M5.
My M1 is in gold and I'm tired of the color. Thinking about getting Midnight for the M5, but was wondering if that was a color that any of you have gotten tired of yet. Second best option is starlight, but I figured I'd go for a color completely not related to Gold.

I got it for my M4. This is the first time I had ever purchased the darker color. This shade of black has a blue tint to it which i really like. I picked up this dbrand skin for it and it looks fantastic:

So far, I am liking the midnight. I don’t find a fingerprint issue as exaggerated on the net however, they are present. I do find myself washing my hands more, which is not a bad thing.

I saw it in the Apple Store in midnight and loved how it looked. But, I decided to keep using my M1.

Honestly my favourite colour. Can't see silver anymore. Example photo. Not my devices.

I purchased the Midnight MacBook Air M5 like last week, and I still love the colour. Not sure how well it'll hold up, but I baby it to makes sure it remains like brand new. I think Midnight is my favourite colour, but my second choice would have been Silver.

Thanks for all the feedback. I actually decided to get a Space Black M5 MBP instead because getting it refurbished was cheaper than getting a similarly configured new model. Hope it holds up.

If worried you can always get a clear matte or glossy skin, even with graphics, if you’re keen on those.

Been living with my midnight Air for a few months and don't notice it getting any worse than a silver pro I had.

Silver is always the answer for a MacBook. As someone mentioned earlier, any imperfections that you get over the years will show on EVERY other color (less on the lighter ones obviously) - so I always go silver or space grey. Just sold my absolute PERFECT MacBook Pro 2018 a few weeks ago - zero signs of use outside of the shinier keys on the keyboard.

Replaced it with an M5 Air and it had to be in Silver even though Midnight does look damn good next to it in the store.
