4.2 on 3G after heavy use?

Anymore feedback on 4.2 on a 3G?

I have an iPhone 4 and I just noticed today that it has begun lagging a bit on certain tasks. It's by no means anything drastic or a cause for concern, but it does make me wonder how the 3G will hold up once it starts getting bogged down with use.

Has anyone with 3G who updated to 4.2.1 notice a difference in there 3G signal?

When I was running on 3.1.3, at work I usually get 4-5 bars. After updating, I now get 2-3 bars. I even tried restoring a 2nd time to make sure and I get same results.

With 4.1 they changed the way the signal bars are displayed and the signal strength to bar ratio. Your getting the same signal, it's just that the bars are displayed different.

I'm running my 3G with multitasking, well trying to anyway and I'm finding that apps are crashing due to running out of RAM much more often than with 4.1. Even many apps that are run solo; eventually free ram drops to around 5-6 MB and they simply die. So I've turned off multitasking for now.

I get the not so subtle feeling that Apple is intentionally pushing us to newer hardware... or another brand of smartphone.
