The only reason why I'd upgrade from my X to an 11 is so I can stop calling it an "ECKS". Never got into the "TEN" naming.

I mean, i have a X and I am on the upgrade program. I just didn’t buy the iPhone XS because it was barely an upgrade plus I would have had to pay extra money for “upgrading sooner than a year”. But the 11 Pro has is definitely a substantial upgrade over the X. Can’t wait to play with the camera!

Although I am so attracted to the Pro, the trade-in deal only cost me 400 USD to get an iPhone 11 256G with my almost 2 years old 256G iPhone X...
I am the same way... Material wise I feel like 11 is a downgrade from X. Especially when compared to 11 Pro... But I also would like a fresh battery, more battery life, and, uhh, hm? I think more battery life is the only thing I want. I am torn.

Just posted this in another thread. Here is is again. That'll most likely do it for my once every 3 years post :p

Buying the 11 pro max. WAY better battery life, amazing camera/ vid camera, bigger and better screen. Not that much $$ really w/ trade in. Trade in 11 pro next year as well if the 2020 version blows me away. Can't see having this same old small phone for yet another year.
I think the main thing keeping me from upgrading is the possibility of this amazing 2020 iPhone we keep hearing about.

I agree the regular 11 would be a "downgrade" from the X due to the screen and construction. I use my phone naked, but most put a case on it. If you case your phone you wouldn't notice a different outside of the screen. Every other aspect of the 11 is an upgrade over the X.

Battery life is a compelling upgrade for me. Camera is nice, but not one of the main features I desire. So, it comes down to deciding if I want to upgrade my X for battery life....I may.

I have a launch day iPhone X 256 GB and I think I am going to hold onto it. Might get a new battery while I still have Apple Care. IMO, the iPhone 11/Pro is essentially what the iPhone XS should have been.

AT LEAST this year there are some stand out features, whereas last year, when the XS was introduced, there was no new/exclusive feature to really stand it out from the X. At least now there are some new things to differentiate it and show progression.

That said, there is not enough there for me to justify taking the plunge. I still struggle with calling this phone an upgrade from any phone in the X line. The camera system alone does not do it for me. I'm sure the A13 is a beast, but in terms of my usage, I cannot imagine much of a difference. It's almost more worth talking about the features that did not make it in than it is talking about the features that did make it. I am also salty over 3D Touch being eliminated, and for what reason? I would understand if they had something else they were going to do with the screen or put under the screen - and maybe they will at some point further down the line - but since they have not done any such thing for this phone, then why nix the 3D Touch for no reason? I still use quick app shortcuts as well as peek/pop daily.

I think I am going to stay put with the X for a 3rd year.

my iPhone X is a new refurbished replacement unit with 100% battery capacity, so i wait another one or two years

I have an X...can't really see a need to upgrade. A camera that is .01% better and...uh green? Pass.

It's replaced by haptic touch.... peek and pop and app shortcuts still work. In iOS 13 you can do both on the X and see how similar they function.

The Filmic Pro demo shooting with multiple cameras had me sold because, and only because, I just so happen to have a project in the next month where I am filming cooking videos from above for use on social media. It’s the perfect use of that feature and the small sensors are fine for social media.

But then they said that update will come later this year (not at launch) and I’ll be done with my project so I’ll just have to use a real camera and punch in on the 4K in post / optically zoom for beauty shots. I don’t want to deal with rigging / unlocking and operating / figuring out a way to monitor a phone that is mounted above my head anyway. Not to mention data management for the long shoots with no way to instantly swap out media cards.

For a minute it was looking pretty attractive though as I’ll probably have to spend $400 on a rental cam for that project plus I have a $400 trade in.

I want to upgrade. I thought about it, but I think I'll pass. I picked up my X off craigslist/FB a month or so after the X was released, and got it at a great deal. No issues with it and battery capacity is at 94%.

I can prob stomach at least another year. The $400 credit is appealing, but that's still $600 plus AC if desired, so $800, and that's a lot of money when I was happy with my phone 2 days ago, hah.

I'm much more interested in an Apple Watch over my Fitbit Versa. Just don't want to have to charge it overnight.

So today my display just turned back in top left corner. Apple Support says $600. I am upset because I wanted to go one more year... thinking now that I may pre-order in the morning. Thoughts anyone?

I have a launch day 256gb X that I am trading in. The battery on it is down to 86% capacity and for two years I have been disappointed with the camera. I went through my google photos a few months ago and found some photos from when I had the Note 4 that looked just as good. I thought Nilay Patel made a good point: no amount of money after the fact can improve your photos. While my kids are growing up I think I will continue to pay to get the better camera.

I have an iPhone X which has been a genuinely fantastic phone (and still is), so I had no plans to upgrade this year...up until last night. However that has now changed and I have ordered an iPhone 11 Pro in space grey. My X will be passed on to my wife who will pass on her 7. I sat there last night saying comments to my wife such as "Im such a filthy apple wh0re" and she was like "yeah...you are" haha. So yeah, that happened.

I am, for several reasons. First of all, the wife needs a new iPhone, as far as I’m concerned anyway, so she’s getting my X - she won’t let me buy her a new one
But at least this X is only a couple of months old due to an AppleCare replacement.

The cameras are a definite improvement, so that’s a bonus.

After 2 years of managing with 64GB of storage, I’m now getting to the point where I could be doing with a bit more.

I want the bigger screen size of the Max, I wanted a bigger screen when I got the X if I’m honest, but as there wasn’t one at the time, I was happy to compromise. (And no, I didn’t want an 8+).

Compared to my X, there’s going to be about an extra 6 1/2 hours of battery life. That I could really be doing with - about bloody time.

I know that next year there’s going to be a 5G iPhone. But as it’ll take a few more years before we even get 5G where I am, I’m not fussed about that. So unless there’s some unbelievable advancement other than 5G, with next years iPhone, I reckon I’ll be happy with the 11 Pro Max for the next 2 years.

The camera upgrade is absolutely massive from the X, that’s my main reason, battery life should be a good 5 hours better too.

Also the NFC is a lot better, supported passive NFC and reserve power mode NFC.

Theoretically, battery should be six and a half hours better. The jump from X to XS Max gained one and a half hours more battery and the jump from XS Max to Pro Max is another five hours over the XS Max. So combined it’s six and a half...... but we’ll see.

I told myself I’m going to wait for 5G but the next phone screen size rumors bother me.

I don’t want 5.4 pro and 6.7 max is too big for phone in pocket.

I want an upgrade in screen size to Max and next year Max will be too big and Pro will be too small so I’m on the fence with a Max this year in my sprint cart for $35.86 a month, with loyalty discount. Hard to pass up and afraid not to for disappointment next year.

MY phone does not. I can only charge via wireless which is annoying as Ive been forced to

Ditto. The lightning port hasnt worked for the past month and a half and Ive been holding out for the new phones since I knew they'd be announced soon

have you tried using a paper clip or something small to clean the port of lint and debris. I’ve had the same issue a few times. You’d be surprised how much crap gets in there and it completely blocks the connectors.

I'm going to get a Max Pro and keep my X as a back up since it's paid for.
Same.

In.

Upgrading from a X in Space Gray, 256GB.

Torn between the matte black version and the midnight green.

Since the Pro has WiFi 6, does that imply it’ll use a different (non-Intel) modem?
I went from a Space Grey 256gb X to a Midnight Green 256gb 11 Pro.

I’m upgrading from an X. Last year was the first year I didn’t feel the need or want to upgrade. Excited for the 11 Pro though. Also joining IUP this year, as 2020 should see a redesign.

So did anybody make this move and want to share their initial impressions? I am contemplating going from X to 11 (non Pro). I like the slightly larger screen. The max is too big for me.

I am having second thoughts after downloading iOS 13 and seizing the deep blacks in dark mode.
Of course, upgrading to the Pro is also an option, but I am just liking that middle sized phone with the 6.1” screen.
